Manufacturer's Description
An epic, open-ended single-player RPG, Morrowind allows you to create and play any kind of character imaginable. You can choose to follow the main storyline and find the source of the evil blight that plagues the land, or set off on your own to explore strange locations and develop your character based on their actions throughout the game.
In Tribunal, you journey to the capital city of Morrowind, called Mournhold, to meet the other two god-kings of Morrowind, Almalexia and Sotha Sil. Your journey will lead you to the Clockwork City of Sotha Sil and massive, epic-sized dungeons, where strange and deadly creatures await you, including goblins, lich lords and the mysterious Fabricants.
Bloodmoon takes you to the frozen Island of Solstheim where you'll experience snow, blizzards, and new creatures, including frost trolls, ice minions and wolves, to name but a few. You'll have a choice of stories to follow and have the opportunity to defend the colony, take control over how the colony is built up, and eliminate the werewolves. Or, you can decide to join the werewolves and become one of them, opening up a whole new style of gameplay.

You'll love it... but only if you like RPGs.
Let's get one thing straight- this game is not for everyone. I think if I lent it to most of my friends they would only have the patience for about 10 minutes, giving up because of the initial slow pace, and "rubbish" combat system. Those with more patience will get past the initial bewilderment (there are stats galore) and enjoy an incredibally involving game, with total freedom to explore the huge world, and take your own career path. There are literally hundreds of hours of gameplay and the detail is fantastic. The combat system is very simplistic, but that's just not the point. You can enchant items, create potions, and increase the abilities of your character. There is a definite feeling of doing what you want, when you want, in fact it is the least linear game I have ever played. I give it five stars, but deduct four if your favourite games are Resident Evil and FIFA.
Amazing but sometimes aimless!
I first saw Morrowind on the PC at a friends house. I was immediately impressed with the sheer feeling of scope, depth and freedom that the game provides. The graphics are great considering it's a console conversaion, though the xbox version seems foggier than the PC version. That can't be helped. the controls are rather nice, too.
It's possible to be an orc, elf, dark elf, wood elf, high elf, nord, imperial... the list goes on. All of these races live together quite peacefully on the island, which is a nice change from the styles of other games which have 'enemy races,' such as orcs or lizardmen. I've even seen an Orc as park of the imperial guard!
As for character classes, you can make your own abilities (want a wizard that's really good with heavy armour and a broadsword? Or maybe a barbarian with a nack for lock picking? Maybe a reptillian archer that can turn herself invisible is more you style? well, you can!) or pick from a list of character styles, such as thief, fighter, sorcerer or archer...
The only time I felt like I was being led around by the nose was at the begining of the game when I had to create my character. The character generation itself is handled in a nice way and takes the form of telling someone at the island census office about yourself. This includes name, race, face, gender, skills and birth sign. The face editor is a nice addition, giving you a choice of face and hair style to use.
After that, the game pretty much leaves you to do what you want to do... You have 10 square miles (Nine on the 'morrowind' island and one on the 'tribunal add-on pack' island) to walk around in, and encounter what you will. This is the games greatest and weakest point. Maybe it is just me, though others have said the same, but I sometimes find myself wandering around literally aimlessly (as I say, the game leaves you to it) wondering what to do. Hopefully something turns up, but at other times I have simply turned the game off because I've grown bored.
One minor note, too. The text in the game appears to be translated. It contains some gramatical errors (Who am I to talk though!) and some spelling errors. "You will now learn to do combat." and "Morrrowind." come to mind. With such an epic though, some are bound to slip through!
Overall, a highly enjoyable game with massive replayability. The replayability alone gets this game 4 stars, the extra is because it does so with such style.
The best game in the world, EVER!!
Well what can i say, this is honestly the best game i've ever played. i started playing the game 3 years ago and i still can't stop playing it, and when i'm not playing, im thinking about it.
You start the game off by choosing any kind of character you desire. From a mage to a warrior, from a thief to a master high elf. Anything you want. You then have the world in your hands. Do what ever you want. Complete the main quest while doing sub quests, or just search for missing treasures and explore caves and shrines. Watch out though, you'll always have an enemy in the wilderness.
In summary every RPG fans should have this game, and if your not a fan of these kind of games then try it out anyways. I can guarantee that you'll enjoy this open ended, never ending game.
