No Mercy 20035
This was the 2nd smackdown ppv of the year in 2003 and probably one of the best of the year behind Wrestlemania 19 and Survivor Series.

Match 1: Tajiri vs Rey Mysterio (Cruiserweight Championship)

Not one of the greatest cruiserweight matches ever, but Rey and Tajiri are both very quick and know what there doing to make this entertaining, but very stupid ending 7/10

Match 2: Chris Benoit vs A-Train

Decent match, most of it is A-train beating up Benoit, but Benoit lives up to his name in this one. 8/10

Match 3: Zach Gowen vs Matt Hardy

I liked this match, Zach Gowen is a great high flyer and manages to overcome Matt Hardy dominating him at the begining. 6/10

Match 4: Apa vs The Basham Brothers

An ok match, APA seem to dominate the basham brothers but theres a suprise ending. 7/10

Match 5: Vince Mcmahon vs Stephanie Mcmahon (Father-Daughter I Quit match)

Good build up to the match, but seriously this is a pretty rubbish match with a man beating up his daughter. 5/10

Match 6: Kurt Angle vs John Cena

2nd best match of the night, Cena at that point was one of the best rising superstars on Smackdown, its street power wrestling versus technical wrestling, which makes this very entertaining. 9/10

Match 7: Eddie Guerrero vs The Big Show (United States Championship)

Great match, Eddie tries everything to put the Big Show down including trash cans and brass knuckles, but Big Show overpowers Eddie, but could have been longer. 8/10

Match 8: Main Event : Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker (Bikers Chain Match for the WWE Championship)

This match was easily match of the night, they faced off at No Mercy last year which was a better contest, but this lives up to its hype, interference at the end leads to a match between Taker and Mcmahon at Survivor Series. 10/10

Overall this PPV showed why Smackdown was a much better brand than Raw in the year of 2003

Only one real classic does not bode well 2
No mercy 2003 was an average pay per view, certainly some of the matches would have been better served on the smackdown show itself, instead they were placed on a pay per view and showed themselves to be very average and some of the feuds would prove to have no more interest in them after this night.
The event opened well with the cruiserweight title on the line, tajiri,in heel mode, defended it against rey mysterio and this match was enjoyable, high flying and high in quality,i found this a good quality match and this feud would bang on for a while after this but to good success.
Chris benoit went up against A-Train next, this match was enjoyable as well,A-train putting in a good shift against a highly skilled and focused benoit,we had bralw elements as well as good honest wrestling so this meant that i was entertained.
Zach Gowen went up against matt hardy in the first low of the night, zach gowan has one leg and while his bravery cant be questioned, his stint in WWE was desperate and terrible,i know that sounds harsh but he had no place, and here we had a match so bad that i wish i could forget it,the ending wasnt believable and i certainly dont buy it,a real low.
The Basham brothers went up against the APA next in a poor enough match,it was too much of a brawl for its own good and it all got very scrappy and left me hoping it would end soon which it did thankfully.
Vince mcmahon fought his daughter stephanie next in an 'i quit' match and this very concept of a match was poor thinking from the creative team,no one really went for this match,it didnt spark belief in myself,a stupid idea perhaps but what about the match i hear you cry?it was ok in truth but didnt change my life at all.
Kurt angle went up against john cena next in the match of the night, the crowd were superb here cheering each man and then the other, shifting sides like you wouldnt believe and this filtered through to cena and angle who served up a match of pure quality,a real highlight of the year in my opinion, lost among some poor matches.
The united states championship was defended next as the champ eddie guerrero went up against the big show, this match rattled on a bit and died a little but before it did that it was pretty good, not a personal highlight of either mans career.
The WWE championship and main event was next, the champion brock lesnar defended it against the undertaker in a biker chain match, meaning that a chain was up on a pole on a turnbuckle and the first man to obtain it could use it,but i wouldnt get too excited about that, the match itself was eventful and bloody,in fact there was some savage beatings on display here and a nice ending to a match that does last a while but doesnt rot itself,so there you go,marks out of 5,let me think,ah i know 2 stars.

SMACKDOWN COULD PUT ON A BETTER PPV THAN THIS3
ECW and Raw are my favorite brands, Smackdown could seriously put on a better PPV than this. The previous Smackdown PPV Vengeance 2003 was better than this.

FIRST MATCH- TAJIRI VS. REY MYSTERIO FOR THE WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Good way to open up No Mercy with a Cruiserweight Championship match. Not bad but if it was longer & had more time to really see both of these men fight it out more, then it would have been better. After someone comes & tries to interfere {Some guy who looks like Akio} the referee prevents him from interfering which leads to Tajiri nailing the Buzzaw Kick on Mysterio for the win to retain his Cruiserweight Championship. 4/10

SECOND MATCH- BASHAM BROTHERS VS. APA Just a solid tag team match, could of been better though. Shaniqua interferes during the match & gives one of the Basham's a steel pipe which they use on Bradshaw {behind the referee} to get the win against APA. 3/10

THIRD MATCH- ZACH GOWEN VS. MATT HARDY W/ SHANNON MOORE This was a good match. This Zach Gowen wrestler seriously is good & talented, too bad he doesn't wrestle anymore. Zach Gowen gets the win after a Moonsault from the top on Matt Hardy. 4/10

FOURTH MATCH- CHRIS BENOIT VS. A-TRAIN Finally a good match which shows power moves from A-Train & technical moves from Benoit. During the match, A-Train big boots Benoit on the face which you see one of Benoit's teeth come out. Even though bleeding from the mouth, Benoit locks in a Crossface on A-Train for the win. 5/10

FIFTH MATCH- VINCE MCMAHON W/ SABLE VS. STEPHANIE MCMAHON W/ LINDA MCMAHON IN AN I QUIT MATCH Man Vince McMahon is so crazy to actually fight his own daughter in an I Quit match. This match is just sad as Vince McMahon makes his daughter say I Quit after choking her with a steel pipe. 2/10

SIXTH MATCH- KURT ANGLE VS. JOHN CENA Great athletic & technical match between these two as this is probably the only best match of the night. Angle wins after making Cena tap out to the Ankle Lock. 5/10

SEVENTH MATCH- BIG SHOW VS. EDDIE GUERRERO FOR THE WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP Even though Eddie tries everything he can muster to try & topple down the Big Show, it isn't enough as Big Show nails the Chokeslam on Guerrero for the win to become the new WWE United States Champion. 4/10

EIGHT MATCH- BROCK LESNAR VS. UNDERTAKER IN A BIKER CHAIN MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP {There is a chain stuck on a pole which needs to be reached in order to use the chain as a weapon in the match}. Acceptable main event as Lesnar & Undertaker always have good matches. F.B.I {Nunzio & Johnny Stambooli} interfere & try to take out the Undertaker, but Undertaker takes them both out & turns around only to get blasted on the head by steel steps used by Lesnar. Lesnar covers for the 3 count to get the win & to retain his WWE Championship. 5/10

All future Smackdown PPV 's could be way better than this.
