Steel Battalion: Line of Contact allows gamers to pilot more than 10 new mechs over the course of the game while engaging in five-on-five online combat. Through Xbox Live, players must collaborate with other team members to accomplish objectives, expand their troop's territory and declare victory over adversaries. Additionally, they can search for rare VTs hidden throughout the game. The Steel Battalion universe will evolve constantly as new combat situations are introduced and as territory is gained and lost.
The 40-button controller was designed to completely maximise the gaming experience and immerse the player into the role of a Vertical Tank pilot. With trigger buttons to fire weapons; foot pedals to accelerate, boost and brake; levers to shift gears and move left to right, gamers must utilise the full potential of their VTs abilities in order to survive on the battlefield. Mastering the controls of this tactical vehicle will allow players to feel as if the VT is part of their own body. Steel Battalion: Line of Contact boasts the following features: You can control your VT with the exclusive 40-button simulation controller designed and produced for Steel Battalion. Aside from the default cockpit view, a third-person perspective allows players to observe their VT in action during combat. You can also create and customise emblems to personalise VTs.
With Xbox Live you can partake in the biggest online mech melee as opposing teams of five clash on the virtual battlefield. In Steel Battalion: Line of Contact, collaborating with team-mates is a key part of accomplishing mission objectives all the while improving your personal combat skills.

Steel battalion
This is definitely only a game for the mech enthusiast, coming in at over £150. It's certainly not a purchase for the casual gamer. Was gutted when I tried to buy the origial to find it was sold out everywhere, and was coming in at between £200 and 400 on the second hand market. I pre ordered this as soon as it was announced. Took delivery early this week and the smile on my face when I opened the box was noted on by everyone in the room. The only thing I was worried about was that this was a multiplayer only game (so I'd have to get x-box live and a router and get soundly beaten and laughed at by all the people who had been playing the origianl for over a year) but I was very pleased to find a copy of the original game inside the box too. I have purchased x-box live and a router, but I can get some practice on the first game before I go online against the vets. After putting the controler together and finding a suitable surface for it to rest on (it gets heavy after a while on your lap) the opening sequence of the game was not impressive, very scratchy graphics and poor resolution, but all that paled into insignificance as soon as you get to start your VT up. having to press 8 keys just to get your VT up and running instatnly immerses you into the game. It's very hard in places, and very tricky to get used to all of the controls. But I can heartily recommend this to any mech fan. Hope you all enjoy this as much as I am.
Steel Battalion: Line Of Contact +Steel Battalion+controller
Trust me you will not be disappointed ! Steel Battalion Line Of Contact is simply amazing. Aslong as you have an interest in mech games with huge scale combats against others, then you will love it. First of all you MUST have Xbox LIVE to play as it is all about online combat, aswel as the 40 button controller. You start by choosing and customising your VT (vertical tank) with weapons and you can also change colours and design your on emblem to totally personalise your tank.
Basically it is all out online shooting on such a huge scale, in cities, mountains etc. The graphics are stunning, the sound effects are incredible (aslong as you have a decent dolby system).
You have 2 playing views this time, the impressive cockpit view and the new 3rd person perspective.
Although it is pricey (if you need the controller too), believe me you will not regret buying this. I havent stopped playing since i got it from amazon.
The contents comes in a nice looking army style box aswell as the original Steel Battalion :-) just incase you dont have LIVE. You will also love playing the original. 20 missions with computer VT's.
The controller really does make you feel in control of your mech. You get peddles and an easy to assemble 40 button controller which is over 1 metre long when built! (3 parts) with backlit buttons when pressed.Manufactured by Sammy USA, it is certainly the most solid built peripheral i have come across.
Without a doubt 5/5
Balls of Steel
The original was hard as nails in places but great fun and totally immersive. But you just kept wishing the AI wasnt so pants. What if........holy cow! What if you could play against other humming beans? Hey presto...you can. Come, join us in nerdom. If you can afford it you owe your Xbox it. UKThunder will welcome the challenge, the more the merrier, bring it on!
