Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
It's an absolute crime that there hasn't been more Wild West-themed video games over the years, but Red Dead Revolver redresses this balance almost instantly with a gloriously authentic spaghetti western feel that'll make the next clichéd fantasy or SF setting you come across even harder to bear. Red Dead Revolver has had an unusual history, starting life as an update of Capcom's old Gun Smoke arcade game before being canned. So confident were the developer's of the game's worth though that they convinced Grand Theft Auto publishers Rockstar to buy up the rights and allow them to finish their work. And thank goodness they did, for not only does the game entirely legitimise the Wild West as a viable setting for a video game, but it's one of the most entertaining arcade shooters of recent years.

The controls are just complex enough to allow depth, without becoming fiddly, and allow you to use cover appropriately, and fight hand to hand and with a huge range of different weapons. The best bit though is the bullet time-esque "Dead Eye" mode which allows you to select multiple targets in slow motion and then switch back to normal time and blast everyone away instantly, just like Clint Eastwood. With sections on horseback, a number of missions (perhaps too many) where you control a side character instead of the eponymous Red, and tons of references to classic movie moments this has just about everything you could ask for from a cowboy shooter. --David Jenkins

Manufacturer's Description
A blazing third-person gun-slinging action game, Red Dead Revolver is fuelled by a revenge-driven storyline punctuated by dark humour. The arcade-style gameplay blends seamlessly with the elements of the Wild West era. Full-motion capture cut scenes and breathtaking visuals fuel the cinematic ambition of the game. Inspired by the Spaghetti Westerns of the 60s and 70s, Red Dead Revolver is the first game to fully explore the Wild West era, rather than use it as a backdrop. It is a homage to the classic tales of vengeance on the untamed frontier, where life is reduced to its simplest form--the clothes on your back, your gun, and maybe a horse.

Good but not great4
The story that drives Revolver along is that of revenge. After witnessing the death of his parent's, (and even his dog), Red takes it upon himself to set out on a path to take down their killer. In order to do so, Red has turned himself into one of the toughest bounty hunters around, and will travel around the West taking down criminals and gangs all in the hope to find the killer. The game starts off with some nice training levels that allow the player to become familiarized with the set-up of the controls. A third-person shooter at heart, the controls for Red are somewhat clunky, but never become hindering. After I got used to the feeling of the game I found that the gun fights and the dusty graphics great, and the best thing about the game is the soundtrack, from drums to guitars. The only weak spots was the lack of dialogue from Red, some wired and sometimes frustrating bosses. Overall red dead revolver has enough style it make up for its rough edges

Brill, Rockstar rules again.5
I was a bit put off buying this game due to the reason I don't like westerns, the sales assisstant recomended it, so I tried it. I'm so glad I did, this game is Amazing, I worship the guy's at Rockstar for this one, absoultly fantastic, You need this game in your collection.
the story: You play as Red mainly but other characters are included, Red is boy who's parents were killed by some outlaws and want's revenge. Red will know the man who did it, as a child Red shot this mans arm off. Pur great western story of revenge, perfect.

Get this game you will not be dissapointed, to show I'm not biased I will give only one bad point, not enough levels.

Get off your hoss and drink your milk pilgrim4
From the sepia stained graphics, to the melancholy tones of a Clint soundtrack, this game has everything to make you feel like your in the Wild West. The graphics are good - a lot like GTA 3 etc. but I guess thats to be expected of course. The levels are intersting and somewhat varied, but a bit too linear for long time gameplay. It feels really satisfying using a rock for cover and loading your shooting irons to dispense of some varmints. The in game cut scenes are fantastic, and the story line borrows from almost every western ever made - which is no bad thing. Multiplayer is great fun, however, it's a crying shame there is no xbox live. Maybe in the sequel.....All this talk is making me thirsty, I'm a gonna mosey on down to the saloon. Maybe rustle me up some pilgrims on the way.
