evolution time
Armaggedon 2003 ended the year and this was an all RAW brand card that peaked and fell in differing stages,so a mixed enough event.
The event opened with mark henry against booker T,this was an ok opener, got a tad dull towards the end but was a decent enough way to kick off the event.
The intercontiental belt was up for grabs next, the champ rvd went up against randy orton who had ric flair by his side and mick foley was guest ref, this match started well, with lots of hard work and skill being flashed about but then the worst thing happened,it got dull and a little samey, the ending was good, but this match died before it should have.
Next up was a match which pitted trish and lita against christian and chris jericho,so for those who may not know, thats two women against two men, this match sounded terrible and it was, some comical moments aside this was filler of the worst kind.
Shawn michaels was up against batista next in a fiery encounter, high in skill and batista had a very good match, michaels causes wrestlers to adapt and in doing so a better match is had, here there was some good stuff and a clinical finish to a good match.
The match between maven and matt hardy was terrible, granted it never happened as batista beat the bald head of maven so it was a no contest but this was lame all the same.
A tag team turmoil match was up next,i liked this rule, two teams start and when one team loses another team enters, the belts were up for grabs and a shock 6th team was added at the last minute to make this even better, but this was a good match nonetheless.
The womens title was up next as the champ molly holly went up against ivory in a very very poor match even by the ladies standards.
The main event was next,a triple threat match for the world heavyweight championship and oh yeah,it was a no dq match so anything could happen, the champ goldberg went up against kane and triple h,this was a very good match with three men who wanted the prize no matter what and they all worked well together,a stunning end meant that the final picture before the end is a true iconic moment but i wont spoil that for you,4 stars.
ANOTHER PASSABLE RAW PPV
This PPV was just seriously bad. Why are all Armageddon PPV's like this, they're always boring & the matches are not booked properly.
FIRST MATCH- BOOKER T VS. MARK HENRY W/ THEODORE LONG Okay opener, & also not a bad match between these two men. After Henry already broke out of a Scissors Kick, Booker T nails another one to get the win against the so-called World's Strongest Man Mark Henry. 4/10
SECOND MATCH- ROB VAN DAM VS. RANDY ORTON W/ RIC FLAIR FOR THE WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: MICK FOLEY This was probably the only good match on the card. Great action from both RVD & Orton. They could sometimes probably be in the mainevent picture hopefully in the future. After RVD knocks down Orton & goes on top for the Frog Splash, Flair tries to interfere giving the distraction perfect for Orton to nail a Super RKO from the top on RVD for the win to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. 5/10
THIRD MATCH- SHAWN MICHAELS VS. BATISTA W/ RIC FLAIR Sort of like a big man vs. big man match. The match itself was boring & Michaels gets the win after reversing a Powerbomb then nailing the Sweet Chin Music on Batista for the win. After the match Batista goes seriously psycho over his loss. 3/10
FOURTH MATCH- MAVEN VS. MATT HARDY {This match was announced on Heat}. This match didn't really start, Batista was still in the ring when Maven came down for his match with Matt Hardy. Batista went totally psycho & Powerbombed Maven 5 times. Therefore Matt Hardy came down to the ring, called a referee to start the match & covered Maven for the 3 count & declared himself the winner as this match did not really start. 1/10
FIFTH MATCH- CHRIS JERICHO & Christian VS. LITA & TRISH STRATUS IN A BATTLE OF THE SEXES TAG TEAM MATCH This match is just lame, man vs. woman, this match & this PPV is just a waste of time. Christian wins after a roll-up on Trish. 2/10
SIXTH MATCH- DUDLEY BOYS VS. LA RESISTANCE VS. MARK JINDRAK & GARRISON CADE VS. LANCE STORM & VAL VENIS VS. ROSEY & HURRICANE VS. TEST & SCOTT STEINER IN A TAG TEAM TURMOIL MATCH FOR THE WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Now I seriously like Tag Team Turmoil matches but I almost fell asleep watching this match, honestly no kidding. Dudley Boys win the match to retain their World Tag Team titles. After the match the Dudley Boys celebration is cut short when Eric Bischoff comes & announces that there is one more team to fight against. That team happens to be Ric Flair & Batista who dismantle the Dudley Boys as Batista nails a Powerbomb on D-Von for the win as Ric Flair & Batista are the new World Tag Team Champions. 4/10
SEVENTH MATCH- MOLLY HOLLY VS. IVORY FOR THE WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP It could of at least been a solid Diva match if there was more time in it but it took like 5 minutes or something. Anyway Molly Holly gets the win to retain her WWE Women's Championship. 2/10
EIGHT MATCH- GOLDBERG VS. TRIPLE H VS. KANE IN A TRIPLE-THREAT MATCH FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Call this a mainevent & it doesn't even end properly. This was just boring. Goldberg gets ganged up by Kane & HHH during the match, but still manages to fight his way through this match. Unfortunately Kane gets the Chokeslam on Goldberg & is about to cover when Evolution {Ric Flair, Randy Orton & Batista} interfere & distract Kane enough for HHH to cover Goldberg for the 3 count to win the match & become the new World Heavyweight Champion making Evolution hold all the titles on Raw. 3/10
This PPV was bad & I only enjoyed the Orton-RVD match only in my opinion. The rest of the matches were boring, seriously just boring.
Only 2 good matches on this PPV
Mark Henry vs Booker T 6/10
A pretty decent match but they could have put somebody else against Booker T and pull off a better match.
Intercontinental Title Match
Rob Van Dam vs Randy Orton: Guest Referee Mick Foley 8/10
An outstanding match with two of the best young superstars of the wwe even though this is a bit long
Battle of the Sexes Match
Trish Stratus and Lita vs Chris Jericho and Christian 7/10
This was surprisingly good for a women vs men tag match and Trish and Lita did really well against the talented Christian and Jericho
Batista vs Shawn Michaels 8/10
Another excellent match from a huge new talent in evolution member Batista and one of the best wrestlers ever Shawn Michaels
Tag Team Turmoil Match for the World Tag Team Titles
Participants are The Dudley Boyz (Buh-Buh Ray and D-Von), La Resistance (Rob
Conway and Renee Dupree), Val Venis and Lance Storm, Scott Steiner and Test, Hurricane Helms and Rosey, and Mark Jindrak and Garrison Cade and a Mystery Tag Team 5/10
This match is good and bad and is not one of the best matches on this PPV which is a surprise
Women's Title Match
Ivory vs Molly Holly 2/10
Boring that's all I am saying
World Heavyweight Title Triple Threat Match
Goldberg vs Kane vs Triple H 7/10
A pretty decent match not much really happened and it could have been better
The two best matches on this PPV are the Intercontinental Title Match and the HBK/Batista Match but other than that we hope 2004 will get off to a great start
