a fine intro to french hip-hop
Anyone not familiar with French hip-hop should give this a listen. Slick production and funk-driven basslines, not to mention the man himself, Kool Shen, king of kings in the huge scene that is french hip-hop. It would be fair to say he's pretty cool by anyone's standards. You don't need to understand French to enjoy, and even if you do parlez-vous, your "ou est la plume de ma tante" french is unlikely to be any help to you; slang and verlant (where syllables of any two syllable word are reversed) proliferate so don't even bother trying.
How 'Two Shouts For My People' hasn't been a crossover hit is anybody's guess.
Buy it. I did and je ne regrette rien.
