Customer Reviews
poor undercard for the most part and great rumble match !
I agree with my fellow reviewers who state that the undercard here wasnt the best,it wasnt the most gratifying, nor memorable with one notable exception and that being the last man standing match between shawn michaels and triple h,aside from that the event seemed rush and didnt really stamp glory all over the place.
The opening tables match looked good on paper, ric flair along with batista vs the dudley boyz, rarely have the dudleys looked so out of place in a match they were made for,not the best although its always good watching flair ham it up.
Next up was a three minute match that is perfect if you want to boil an egg,rey mysterio vs jamie noble, poor and simple match with little in the way of quality or edge of your seat drama, well none in fact.
Next up was eddie guerrero vs chavo guerrero, these men had better fights together than this, there was some good stuff going on,truly there was but it didnt captivate and thats what its all about in the end.
Next up was the wwe title match and only lasted 6 minutes so something wasnt right, hardcore holly was never a main eventer, yes he had paid his dues over the years and he had steel to match some good skills but he was never gonna carry the company on his back, the match came about after a good storyline going into it but no one believed this was gonna be harcores night and it wasnt,i shouldnt spoil a match but anyone could guess that a machine like lesnar wasnt gonna fall to a man like holly, enough said.
The last match before the royal rumble itself was glorious and epic and bloody and frantic and edgy, all of that makes sp a happy boy then. This was a very well fought match with a balanced outlook in the flow of dominance and all in all no one can be blamed for the outcome.
Onto the royal rumble then itself,a good list of names featured here and a very thrilling rumble match followed that led to a worthy winner, high in quality here yet again then.
Most of the undercard was poor enough but with a fantastic last man standing match side by side of a corking rumble match then this event gets a three star rating, make of that what you will hey.
Lets get ready to rumble
World Tag Team Title Tables Match
Ric Flair and Batista vs The Dudley Boyz 5/10
A slow short match that was really there to show the strength of Batista
Cruiserweight Title Match
Rey Mysterio vs Jamie Noble 6/10
A high flying fast paced matched that was over very quickly
SmackDown Match
Eddie Guerrero vs Chavo Guerrero 7/10
These two have great chemistry and it works well in this well done match
WWE Title Match
Brock Lesnar vs Hardcore Holly 4/10
This should not have been on the PPV what so ever in terms of wrestling and storyline, and why are they putting Hardcore Holly in the main event.
World Heavyweight Title Last Man Standing Match
Triple H vs Shawn Michaels 10/10
An excellent match by two of the best alive today. Lots of blood and high risk manoeuvres even though a lot of people hated the ending.
Royal Rumble Match 10/10
This is one of the best rumbles ever the wrestler who one it is one of the best alive today and made the history books that night. Also there was a return of a legend (watch out Randy Orton) and a shocking surprise for Kane.
It looks like 2004 is off to a good start and lets hope it stays that way.
Royal Rumble... It;'s True it's Damn True
Batista and Flair vs the Dudley Boyz (World Tag team championship)- Great opener and also showing the coach getting put through a table on RAW. I Thought it was over quite quickly though.
7/10
Mysterio vs jamie noble w/ Nidia (Cruiserweight championship) - Good promo for Smackdown as it had some high flying fast paced action. There was only going to be one winner however the Nidia blind gimmick was funny.
7.5/10
Eddie vs Chavo Guerrero w/Chavo senior - Right man won to end a pretty annoying storyline. RIP Eddie.
6/10
Brock Lesnar vs Hardcore Holly (WWE championship) - Holly has never been a main eventer in the WWE or WWF. It's good to see him getting some sucess in ECW. Most people would be put off by Holly's involvement with this one. You could tell Brock lesnar was on his way out after the PPV anyway. I was rooting for Holly, he made a brave attempt to pull it off.
6/10
Last man standing match Triple H vs Shawn Michaels (World heavyweight title match).A surprising ending it was very hardcore and lasted a while. I wish Michaels had beaten Triple H becuase he annoys me with is title hogging ad airtime hogging.
9/10
Royal Rumble match - This match was pulled off in dramatic style. With the return of Foley. Goldberg getting screwed. The Undertaker's warning to Kane. The dominance of the BIG Show. The rabid wolverine of course getting what he truly deseved as no-one in the WWE deserved that Title shot more than he did, he proved that he deserved it at long last. He is of my favourite wreslers along with Bret hart, Shawn michaels, The Rock, Stone cold and Mick Foley.
10/10 perfect
