"Cut's in the lab plus he's chopping a stab..."
Cut Chemist is well known as one of the 2 DJ's of L.A. Hip-Hop group Jurassic 5. With 'The Litmus Test', Cut Chemist treats us to one of the most exciting 30 minutes of music ever put on a CD. Cut splices together some of Jurassic 5's finest moments- all of which are remixed to perfection. This album just gets better and better as the tracks play on. After starting with an extended version of 'This Is' (the intro song to Jurassic 5's Power In Numbers LP), Cut then introduces himself on song 2, before breaking in to a frenzied mix of fantastic instrumentals, rapping and scratching.
The albums highlights (for me) are undoubtedly the 'Jayou' remix (where Cut makes that funky flute loop even funkier), the 'A Day at the Races Remix' (where a chunky bass drum is pasted in on almost every syllable of the old-school style fast rapping) and 'Chemical Calisthentics' (a song with some unusually superb rapping about chemicals).
If you are a fan of Jurassic 5- you will be in Jurassic 5 heaven with this album. Its all your favourite tracks- but better. If you don't know who Jurassic 5 are (where have you been?) then this album will entertain and amaze you. Cut Chemist is without a doubt one of the finest turntablists in the business.
The only complaint you could have about 'The Litmis Test' is that it is only 30 minutes long. However, this CD showcases some of the finest mixing, cutting and scratching that you'll ever hear. Every song gets better and better and the sheer energy of the tracks is bound to get your heart pumping. And when its all over- you are going to want to play it all over again. Luckily, this is merely a prelude of things to come. Cut Chemist will be releasing a full length LP entitled "The Audience is Listening" which will showcase his brand new material.

amazing mixes from one of the guys from jurassic 5.
He takes well known hits from every album with J5 and then mixes them up to give a great cd full of classics that will have you nodding your head and give u a grin I reccomend to anyone interested in hip hop or mixing. But especially to anyone who likes jurassic 5 this is a must for them!
