Manufacturer's Description
World Championship Snooker 2004 introduces an online competitive play mode on all platforms, allowing players to go head-to-head with a live opponent and play as any one of the 30 plus professional players.
Renowned for its immersive and compelling gameplay, this new edition adds new official content, more tournaments, new game modes and an enhanced visual engine including all-new motion captured player models and animations.
In addition to the World Championships, players can compete in all the real tournaments of the snooker season, including The LG Cup, British Open, UK Championships, European Open, Welsh Open, Irish Masters, Player's Championship, The Masters and many more. The venue modelling is realistic and accurate and includes the legendary Crucible Theatre, making World Championship Snooker 2004 the most complete, authentic and rewarding snooker game experience.
All the big names make it into World Championship Snooker 2004, including the most successful player of all time, Stephen Hendry, plus Mark Williams, Steve Davis, Ken Doherty, John Higgins, Tony Drago, and more.
A brand new "Classic Match" mode is also cued up for World Championship Snooker 2004, where players compete in the sport's most memorable historic encounters, including the epic 1985 final between Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor, when a cool 18.5 million viewers tuned in to see Taylor give Davis a wake-up call.
Opponent artificial intelligence has been refined and improved, building on the series' acclaimed neural net AI system, and visually there are hundreds of new motion-captured player animations, so it looks and plays just like the real thing. And, of course, if the snooker pressure proves to be just a little too much, players can always try their hand at a game of 8-Ball or 9-Ball pool.

Great game but too similar to 2003
I rented this game with the idea of upgrading my World Snooker 2003 for this. I am not going ahead - yes it's a great game, the best snooker game ever, but the updates are not enough to make it a must purchase.
The menu design has changed, the detail of the players has improved, there is some new commentary, the new camera angles have increased the style of the game, the sound of the balls hitting is different, however the very annyoying crowd noises have increased ten-fold.
The graphics and gameplay have improved, but only slightly, so I would recommend you rent it first. However, for those wanting to buy their first snooker game, don't hesitate - buy this RIGHT NOW!
Very Impressive and a game that Adults can enjoy!!
One of that rare breed - a PS2 game that can be enjoyed by adults - probably more so than children!!
It is very accurate and is almost like watching Snoooker on the BBC - except that you are there in it and have to make your shots!
I didn't know Snooker games existed - isn't it all dominated by the Americans (?) and was surprised to see this in my local video shop at about the time I was looking forward with anticipation, to the British Open in Brighton with Ronnie et al!!
I was even more surprised at how accurately it plays - you have to know about safety play and tactics or you will get thrashed even on the easiest modes and it is all at the gentlest of pace - unlike most console game - you are under no time pressures and can go off and make a cup of tea between shots!!
Plus - games take as long as they take - so yesterday I played a few games and found I had been playing for about 5-6 hours!! About as long as I might have been at a real snooker table - only difference was I had racked up a 50 break - which I have never done in real life on a full-size table!!
Anyway - it amazed me with the attention to detail, the amount you can customise and the realism.
If you like Snooker on TV then this is for you!!
Only one annoying thing - the digitised coughing of the audience - how do you turn this off!!??
But apart from that, one of the most addictive PS2 games I have ever come across - although if you have never heard of Snooker, Stephen Hendrie,Jimmy White, Ronnie 'O Sullivan etc. - then you may be entirely baffled and would probably be best avoiding this!!
World Champ Snooker and more!
When I first bought this game it was my upgrade form the original World Championship Snooker. What a difference. At first it seems difficult but once i got inot the swing of it I was able to pot balls with a great satisfaction. Not only are the graphics inproved, but much, much more.
Over on 2003 v. There is..
-The capability to actually pronunce your name,
-Better flow of gameplay,
-More characters including top seeds and 100's of others,
-All new LG Tour which takes you through all Champs,
-loads of stuff to upgrade your chatacters appearence and others to improve play.
Overall a rock solid title. If your a snooker fan, well get it. if not why not have a shot at it!
