CD Description
On ALL THAT I AM, Joe offers 12 tracks of slow, smooth R&B stylings, with diverse arrangements and creative performance, all centred around the breathy, earnest voice of Joe Thomas. In addition to his multi-tracked vocal arrangements, Joe also makes substantial keyboard, programming, and productioncontributions.
Lyrically, the album ranges from the swaggering bravado of "The Love Scene" to the emotional vulnerability of "No One Else Comes Close". Not wanting to fall backon R&B cliches, Joe opts for a fresher metaphor--"I hear he' s got you in lockdown, but I got the master key" ["All TheThings (Your Man Won't Do)"]. ALL THAT I AM features some impressive production tricks including the reverse loop introto "U Shoulda Told Me (U had A Man)", the flanged vocal effects of "Don't Wanna Be A Player" and exotic instrumental samples throughout.

Customer Reviews

this is chill out r and b at its very best - no question5
I have followed joe right from the beginning when he did 'im in luv'. you will not find a better r&b album anywhere, his latest stuff is ok and has a few classic tracks as always, but i dont know of any song that can touch 'love scene' when u are in the mood for that kind of track, this album is simply awesome and it is one of those that you can listen too from start to finish, no need to flick between tracks. the only disappointment is that he is not recognised in the uk, massive talent but i doubt we will ever see him perform to big audiences here. if you really are an rand b addict you cant go wrong here, anyone disagree - i doubt it. superb. i have had this album for 4 years and i still play it as regularly as when i first bought it, it really is that good.

Amazing!5
For personal reasons i absolutely adore this album! But for any RnB soul fans this album is a must, it blends soul, latino, jazz and hip hop beats together to make every song a good one. Its one of thosed great albums where every song is good,i could listen to this album forever!
Definetly buy this album!

Highest Recommendation5
With the release of his new album, I thought I'd review his second album (yes, it's not his first album, that was on the Polygram label back in 93!). All That I Am is a great R'n'B album. First off, Joe is a solid vocalist. Second of all, he's a solid romantic/sexual lyricist, so if you are shocked by, ahem, very graphic references which are thinly disquised behind immuendo, then this album may not be for you. However, the music may not be to all tastes. It borders on slightly passè for it's time but the lyrics make up for it. Joe is an incredibly romantic lyricist, to the point where his romantic numbers are almost moving (personally, they are but they might not be to all). Songs like "All That I Am" and "No One Else Comes Close" are immensely sentimental and romantic, while "The Love Scene", "Sanctified Girl" and "All The Things" are of a more sexual nature. However, all the tracks except "U Shoulda Told Me" are good, some are better than overs. In my opinion, it's a brilliant album with at least 4 A-side quality songs, with the rest being more than just good filler. Good tracks to average-to-bad tracks is 11:1.
