Customer Reviews

A Little Disapointing3
I was upset to find that the songs were not directly from the sound-track of the film. Most of the songs were sung by Doris and not the original artists and the words are slightly changed in "Just flew in from the windy city". Also she sings Black Hills of Dakota alone and not with Howard Keel as in the film. The recording is good and worth buying but a bit disapointing.

Yet another Day album falls fowl of the PUBLIC DOMAIN rule!1
In Europe, music can be released by virually anyone after 50 years have passed from the original copyright date. Lots of Doris's music therefore now falls into these realms and as consequence is being release by every Tom, Dick and Harry by just about any opportunist who wants to make a fast buck! My advice is IF the Doris Day CD you are buying is not released by her official record label i.e. Columbia Records (subsidiary of Sony BMG) then don't buy it!!

Why? Well for one you never know what sources will be used for the production of the CD. Some labels have been known to simply take the song from vinyl as they won't have access to the Sony BMG archives. Also the media is awash with stories about artists being cheated out of their royalities as they never get to know about these "unofficial" releases.

I buy everything to review on my Doris Day tribute website and thought this CD was a real amateur job. :(

Oh dear...1
The sound quality of this is utter rubbish!! And there are only 8 songs from Calamity Jane. I'm glad I didn't pay much for this, but it's a shame it's ruined my musical reminince. Same is true of Seven Brides...
