Customer Reviews

Don't analyse - just enjoy the puns.5
Tim Vine uses silly props, plays on words and good old fashioned comedy timing to elicit laughter from the audience. Machine gun humour. Spray the audience with enough gags and some will hit home (some miss!).
He follows in the tradition of Tommy Cooper, Ken Dodd, Ronnie Barker, Eric Morecombe. No cutting satire. No political agenda (considering his brother is Jeremy - the political editor at the BBC). Just relax, there's no swearing, and try to keep up with the sheer quantity of the gags.
Good old fashioned British humour. A refreshing change.

Loved it.5
I love this DVD it's possibly my most watched DVD, and that really is saying something for a stand up comedy DVD, normally once you've seen them once or twice you don't want to hear the same jokes again, but this is different. The fast style of jokes worked for me, and his 'stories' where hilarious.
All in all a brilliant show and I highly recommend it.

Very, very good. Very, very funny.5
Okay. for a start, this guy is incredible at delivering quip after quip after quip. So much so, that you will find yourself having to constantly reverse the DVD to see what you missed! How he does this I, and several people who have watched the DVD with me, can only wonder. After viewing this DVD, it comes as little surprise that Tim holds the Guinness world record for the most jokes in 60 minutes!

We first watched this with our friends expecting a few laughs. We were soon rolling around the absurditiy and just plain silliness of some of the gags: there are belly laughs a-plenty.

The marker I'm going against (giving Tim 5 stars) is that I have many, many comedy DVDs including Eddie Izzard, Ricky Gervais and Peter Kay. However, whilst I do enjoy watching those (and laughing along) very much, I laughed a hell of a lot more frequently at Tim's DVD.

"So I bought a chess set. Tried to eat it. Tasted awful. I took it back to the shop. Handed it to the shopkeeper and said "It's stale mate" He said "Are you sure?" I said "Check mate".

"I was having a meal with chess champion Gary Kasparov on a check table cloth. Took him 4 hours to pass me the salt".

So I said to the acrobat "Do you have any winter pepper?" He said "No" I said "...summer salt?" :)

And...it's all CLEAN. Totally free from bad language and smut - children can watch this too - or at least be in the room whilst it's played without having to wait for them to go to bed before you can watch it. Now that's not something you can say to the vast majority of the other comedy DVDs on the market, is it?

Granted, sometimes there are rather weak puns, and I'm sure Tim would agree with that, but you still end up groaning and eventually laughing even at those!

A home truth here too. Tommy Cooper was recently voted the funniest ever British performer. Well, I have to say that many of Tim's jokes are in exactly the same arena as some of Tommy's.

I'm really glad I bought this DVD. If you like Cooper's sense of humour, you will like this I am sure.

Excellent stuff!
