What a performer!!
What can I say? From the opening I Was Born to Love You to the final song this is simply Michael at his absolute best. The range of songs shows the depth of Michael's voice to perfection and introduces a number of songs from the Love Story album to concert. He also sings This Is the Moment, Wales Forever, One Step Out of Time (for the last time in concert) plus a virtuso performance of Boy From Nowhere. I was lucky enough to see this particular concert at another venue and it instantly brings those memories back. If you are in any doubt at all take my advice and buy this DVD, you won't regret it.
Good concert, lousy sound.
Although this is an excellent performance and the visuals are on the whole reasonable quality and well edited, the audio is very disappointing, especially for such a recent release. The surround sound track sounds confused and, worst of all, Michael is almost drowned by the orchestra and is at best muddy - anyone with a good quality system will feel cheated.
The stereo track is an improvement - at least Michael's voice is a bit more forthcoming, although the stereo imaging is poor and again the orchestra is too loud. Anyway, we have already got plenty of stereo recordings and object to paying for a 5.1 soundtrack which is virtually useless on a decent system. Recordings like Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" and Peter Gabriel "Growing Up" show what can be done with live material. This could have been so much better.
Fantastic performance!
From the rock n' roll vibe of the opening number 'I Was Born To Love You' to the emotional rollercoaster provided by the 'Love Story' album, Michael Ball performs a concert not to be missed. As usual, he is completely flawless in all his numbers, and leaves the audience wanting more... 'cos god only knows you can never get enough of that wonderous voice! It's definitely worth a buy!
