Had mine a couple of weeks now but only really tried it out last week at Croke Park for the U2 concert. I was very close to the front but was still astounded at the quality of my pictures. When my mates saw them they honestly thought I was on stage with Bono! Fuji recommends prints no bigger than 8X6 inches with this camera, but I would be confident in enlarging even more than this. The camera performed well in all lighting conditions throughout the day from broad daylight to low levels of daylight, then onto mega bright stagelights then almost total darkness. I used the auto settings all day as I didn't want to experiment too much for such a one-off occasion. If I did it again I would maybe switch the flash off as there were quite a few pictures with bright images of the people in front, but cropping afterwards or zooming at the time soon solved that problem. Out of the 100 or so pictures I took, I zoomed about half and the images were still sharp and vibrant. Experiment with the auto focus as it took a little getting used to, but once it sinks in you will have no problems achieving great results. Oh, and I knew it was small but was still surprised when I took it out of the box just how tiny it was. The only down side so far is the useless 16MB card - I spent 40 quid on a 512MB and can fit 515 images of the highest quality and 3996 (YES!), of the lowest (0.3M). I also took a few one minute video clips, and being so close to the front I thought the sound would be distorted beyond all recognition, but it was surprisingly clear and the video quality was adequate for what is, afterall, a stills camera. Even the battery stood the test of being switched on and off all day long, the LCD screen was used with every shot and the flash was used in over half the shots. Only when I got back to the hotel did the battery show half charge. PS no I don't work for Fuji, it's just a really cool camera!

Super little camera, with a few minor drawbacks.
An excellent little (and I mean little) camera for a reasonable price.

I'm a professional photographer but I also have a small reliable pocket-size "carry it everywhere" camera, just in case. I've always had Fuji digicams, and they usually last about three years with me before the die from dust/vibration/wear&tear.

Anyway... a few drawbacks to the F440: 1) the LCD can be difficult to see in bright sunlight, but then that's true of most digicams; 2) the small optical viewfinder doesn't give full coverage of the image, and your cheek quickly greases up the large LCD on a hot day; 3) you only get a piffling 16mb card in the box (I got an extra 128mb card for a £10); 4) no camera case (I got a fine leather case, tailored to the F440, from the USA for £15); 5) the movie mode is only adequate - but I don't use it much anyway; 6) no little slide cover on the USB port (be careful it doesn't get dust and grease blocking it, or your camera's going to be useless); and 7) the small size may put off people with big hands.

What's to like? A lot. 1) pocketability, at about the size of a pack of cards; 2) strong lithium rechargable battery life (easily filling a 128mb card), as long as you only use flash when really needed; 3) good image-quality & lovely colour faithfullness; 4) a really superb black & white mode, that actually beats the best Photoshop can do on a sophisticated conversion of a F440 colour image; 5) no in-camera sharpening - which is great because I want to do it in Photoshop where I have more control; 6) a useful 3.4x optical zoom; 7) very good build-quality & very fast start-up time; 8) easy PC software that can burn your images to a CD-R that'll play in a DVD player; 9) some limited manual functions like exposure compensation, ISOs & white balance; and 10) general ease of use.

Bought on Holiday
We bought this camera from a duty free shop, in the Caribean, with a 128meg card.
It is both very easy to use, and takes fantastic images. I would recomend this camera to anyone, Whatever your photographic expertise. It also has a viewer and lense, so can be used for either.
A fantastic feature on this camera, is the Trimming Facility, which alows you to turn a "poor picture" into a "good one" with the greatest of ease. (ie. you can trim away any unwanted images, or bring a distant image closer etc).
