Vibrant Breaks Action
This installment of the FabricLIVE series is pure bassline led party time breaks! The emphasis is on dancefloor rockers rather than a mix of the chin scratchers.
Its similiar in vein as to something the Stanton Warriors would serve up, and stirs up memories of Mother Rave from years gone by with its unashamed energy and instant access tracks.
One thing I'm not too great a fan of is the MC that is occasionally scattered across the mix, not too intrusive but I don't really need reminding that this is 'Freestylers! Exclusive! Freestylers! Mix it up yo!'.
For bassline and bounce freaks, this is an essential buy, and proof that London isn't just about moody house music.
Beats that would make a nun shake her ASS!
Fabric never let you down with their compilation series, and this latest addition is absolutely no exception to that. The Freestylers mash up a whole range of sounds including hip-hop, dub, drum n' bass and electro, resulting in a straight-up dirty 'tear-out' breakbeat sound.
When it comes to dance music, all this boring progressive stuff which is supposed to 'take you on a journey' and is built up of 'subtle grooves' is getting dry in my opinion, so if you like your dance music more in your face, with the kind of energy that instantly makes you want to move then but this album!
Freestylers - total quality
The Freestylers are probably the most talented and creative collective in dance music today. They play, they scratch, they mix, they dance and they do the washing. Their fans love them with good reason - they make insanely good music. This mix cd is another example of their skills. Heavy but danceable tunes - music to cure your hangover and wake the dead.
