Absolutely Awful! Pure torture!1
I'm a big Pride and Prejudice and Jane Austen fan and for you to understand that I wasn't prejudiced I ahve to tell you that I love modern adaptations of classical movies if they are well made. Clueless is one of my favorite modern adaptation,a nd I like Bride and Prejudice a lot too. But this one was pure torture!

I hated this version... it's true that this version can be called cute and fun, and you could even enjoy it and like it, if it wasn't for the actress who plays Lizzie... I don't know, I just think she doesn't get her and isn't right for the role. Not only she lacks the natural charm, playfulness, irony and wit of Lizzy, but she plays it quite pompously, arrogantly and irritatingly!

Orlando Seale did a great Darcy, he was dark, tall, handsome, brooding, though you couldn't find him anthipathic because Lizzy was so unfair to him, always shouting down his head. You actually felt sorry for the fellow :-)

Jane and Bingley were nice, though Bingley was portrayed more like an idiot.

Lydia and Kitty and Wickham were also good (W was charming, one of my favorite characters in this adaptation, and L and Kitty were great in their getting-on-your-nerves-we-are-so-stupid ways), I really think that if it were another actress who played Lizzie this movie could have even been enjoyable, but the way it is, I can't stand it. I only watched it once, and it was pure torture.

there should be more pride ...1
AS a Jane Austen and P&P fan I found the idea of setting the plot in our time was quite apealing to me until I saw the film.

The idea was good, the film ... not really. They could have done better I think. Orlando was a sexy Mr Darcy, but a better film could have done him more credit. Concerning Elizabeth I do not think there was any life, energy and freshness in the character or in the actress (as U like it).

There were very few original ideas as to how the plot should work and the characters should act among modern circumstances, they should have been more detailed. Elizabeth's driving a Beetle is fine but it was only one detail among many that could have been more elaborated.

There were some funny scenes, but altogether it's a weak, sometimes truly boring film, neither the actors nor the crew did any credit to Jane Austen or her fans.

Atrocious!!!!1
I was really mislead by the cover when i bought the DVD. I should have known better than to buy this..But then i wanted to see if it was good like some adapted novels to films like 10 things i hate about you adapted from Shakespeare' Taming of the Shrew and another pride and prejudice which starred actress Kiera Knightley. I recognised the title, i seen several modern adaptation and even the period movie but i am totally baffled about this one...I feel that there is something missing either from the seem out of proportion script or even the way it was acted out..i even saw the movie until the end just to give it a fair and unbiased judgment which did not even succeed in changing my mind..I think may be it could be use as an initial introduction to younger kids who does not know about Jane Austen book..but i think this film did not do any justice to her book at all except for the interesting excerpts from the book itself ...it was really a disappointment!!..
