Fast, Furious, Fantastic fun!!
F-zero GX is an extremely fast-paced game, and unlike other high-speed futuristic racers, it doesn't hinder the gameplay.
The game plays brilliantly, the controls are spot-on and despite moving at 1400km/h you still feel in 100% control of your craft.
The difficulty ranges from challenging to insanely hard, which may scare away some gamers but if this game was easy the experience would be nowhere near as intense.
The graphics are amongst the best on the nintendo gamecube, almost as good as those seen in metroid prime and metroid prime 2: echoes (a good comparison as they are also futuristic) which i think have the best visuals seen on any console.
The levels are extremely varied, so repetition will not be a factor.
The story mode is slightly poor, you will be playing to win the races rather than to see what happens next, but this is a racing game afterall, and the cut-scenes are sweet looking.
Ultimately i would recommend F-zero GX to anyone, however the difficulty level may be a problem for some as to gain most of the unlockables it takes amazing levels of skill, and usually multiple attemps, this could mean the experience is unrewarding for the more unexperienced of gamers. This would be a concern at full price, but at £16.99 it is a worthy purchase even if you don't have hands.
Great but tough!
F-Zero GX is a beautiful game to look at, if you have the time, because it's so fast you'll hardly have time to notice. Essencially its an excellent racer but casual gamers beware, it gets very tough pretty quickly and the more difficult settings may have you throwing your pad around in frustration! Toughness isn't necessarily a bad thing, if you stick at it you'll find an excellent racer. Recommended, especially at this new low price.
N64 Classic, Still as good for GameCube
I played F-Zero X for hours on end when it was first released on N64, so when I finally got round to buying it for gamecube, I was instantly taken back. The gameplay is amazing, I love how you have to steer and tilt at the same time, you actually feel like the G's are pushing you back in your seat.
There's also a new story mode where you play as Captain Falcon. It's O.K, but I didn't really bother with it.
The only drawback of this game is that its not very long, and I don't think they should have bothered with the custom cars thing. The multi player is amazing. Wiked game, must buy!!!
