Editorial Reviews
From the Label
A Ticket For Everyone features all of Busted's hits to date played live by the boys on their sellout tour. Kicking off with the witty "Air Hostess", this rollercoaster ride of an album takes in classic tune after classic tune including the brilliant debut single "What I Go To School For", "Year 3000" and their magnificent cover of The Undertones' "Teenage Kicks". Also includes the studio version of hit single "Thunderbirds Are Go!".
CD Description
Recorded live at the Manchester MEN on the band's early 2004 arena tour, the album features twelve of their biggest hits, all performed in their raw and energetic live style. Alsoincluded is Busted's studio version of the theme track from2004's big screen remake of 'Thunderbirds'.
Customer Reviews
Not the best live band on the planet...as this album shows
First things first - I'm not exactly Busted's target audience - I'm 34 and have a respectable job in computing... That said, I think Busted's singles are the catchiest pop music to come out of Britain in a very long time, and I own both the studio albums, much to the scorn of my contemporaries.
I picked this album up on a whim, having decided that the embarrassment of being twice the age of the rest of the audience made actually going to a concert a step too far. I have to say that I am quite disappointed. The production on the studio albums is first-rate - this album is poor both in performance and recording. The screaming from the audience between songs is at a volume where it becomes annoying, and the overall sound mix is pretty muddy. I could forgive that if it had captured a good performance, but it would seem that Busted on stage are a little scrappy - the vocals in particular are very poor, with lines and cues being missed and all three members struggling to hit the right notes from time to time. There's no real atmosphere to the recording either - maybe good as a souvenir if you were there, but a bit wasted if you weren't.
That said, the quality of the material still comes through - songs like "Crashed The Wedding", "What I Go To School For" and "You Said No" are irresistably catchy even in these less-than-brilliant versions, so in spite of my reservations, this seems to be getting at least equal airtime with the new Manics album in the car...
A good album from a bunch of guys who get far too much stick
Ok...so imagine the situation. You see an advert wanting guys for a new band, so you respond, get the gig, and when you realise the scale of how big things are gonna be do you say "Cheers for the offer but I think I'll go back to school college etc."?! No, did n't think so. They were a pop band and they were a good pop band, presenting non-offensive, very catchy tunes to the kids of the UK and beyond. This album captures the spirit of a live gig and the rapport the boys have with the crowd. Everyone is having an amazing time and this comes through clearly in the music. Mostly good songs, played and sung well, for a live gig and easy to listen to in any situation. So if you have ever secretkey or otherwise, liked Busted or are curious get this album. Now they are gone it is well worth purchasing to remember one of Britains freshest pop acts of the decade.
Have a little fun in your life!!
Ok first things first-respect to the review below but the title says LIVE so you expect the sound quality to be worse than that of an original album! And so don't buy it, if little things like that are going to be a problem!! Anyway, the songs-brilliant, most of their hits, all fun, all catchy and so much more laid back than most hits these days. "Teenage Kicks," is a cover from the Undertones and I love it-it's great to hear a modern version of an old classic. Of course, as the album is LIVE many of the songs vary in tune etc because bands tend to play around with the words more-so dont expect pure Busted tunes-expect differences. Busted always manage to make me laugh in songs like, "She wants to be me," because of the comical lyrics and "3AM" is my favourite Busted song ever! I think this is a good album-and it's defintely worth picking up! The only reason for the 4 stars is because a few songs are missing!
