Customer Reviews

shoddy documentary ,great extras 3
Eddie Guerrero was a fantastic wrestler who worked so well as a heel and a babyface,he worked so hard to get to where he wanted to be and to beat the demons that lashed at his very soul, this two disc documentary was made when he was alive and circle around his journey from the beginning until early 2004,but there is some problem with the documentary, let me tell you,it lasts 45 minutes which is a disgrace,as chris benoit states on the documentary,if ever a man has a story to tell its eddie and this dvd is like a very poor cash in on his life at that juncture,it just rallies past so much and doesnt detail enough of anything, eddies career in japan played a big part in who he would become but its hardly mentioned here as is his ecw era and even wcw which the wwe owne the rights too is hardly touched, eddies battles with drugs and alcohol are featured more evidently but some of his glory is pushed to the side.
The interviews with his family are good but maybe too much kissing of eddie especially from his brother chavo who eddie in his book states wasnt much of a brother to him.
Having read the autiobiography first does weaken the appeal of this feature heavily as it is more detailed than this, however the dvd does contain some great matches spanning his career and has the excellent los guerreros vignettes that are comical as heck, and show that eddie was the complete package in so many ways,i aint gonna state that this is vital and now that eddie has passed on they may work on this documentary again one day and flesh it out which is what eddie deserves.

R.I.P Eddie guerrero5
Unlike Eddie's real life freind chris beniot, eddie died with honer. I Still think they should of made this dvd set after he died because it would be a bit better but this dvd shows the life style that eddie had with his family and close freinds like dean malinko and others. Watch exclusive photos and film witch came from the guerrero family. You get around 2 hours of an documentaire show casing eddie's life. Hear from his wife and the people who know him best as they let out the full truth behind this great athlet.

Disc 1:

1. Hector, Chavo, and Mando Guerrero vs. Cactus Jack, and the Rock and Roll RPM's: Now when I say this match is old school, I mean it! Lets go back 16 years, to where even Mick Foley wasn't that well known and you have this decent six man tag team match. Eddie isn't in this, I think he is somewhere in his early teen years, but this is definately not bad of a match. Old School fans will enjoy this one. 7.5/10

2. Hair vs. Mask, Eddie Guerrero and Love Machine vs. Octagon and El Hijo Santo: This is another old match, 10 years ago, when masks and titles are on the line in this one. A back and forth battle, Eddie shows us how he wrestled when he was a rookie and how much he has changed nowadays. A good match. 8/10

3. 2 out of 3 falls, Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko: Do i need to say anything else, These two great athlets battle in ecw in the classic 2 out of 3 falls match. Eddie and dean start it of with high flying action witch ends with both men doing a drop kick at the same time. good match and thank god this match was on this dvd. 9/10

4. Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Jericho: Know we enter his WCW years as these two men fight for respect. Y2J does a brutal Top rope drop kick to eddie. good match and Jericho should come back to wrestling and go to TNA. 8/10

5. WCW Crusierweight Championship, Eddie vs. Rey Mysterio: The only good thing about WCW was the fact that they had the best crusierweights in the world. Rey and Eddie put on a fantastic show that had Rey's famous mask against Eddie's belt. A back and forth battle that had both men show off their skills. Eddie almost even ripped the mask off during the match. A great match that wont be forgotten. 9.5/10

Other extras have five short segments of Eddie and Chavo goofing off and have good times with: A woman and her baby, an old lady who needs her pool "cleaned," two preppy guys and thier hot gal pals!, two guys on the golf course, and a unfortunate man who gives them his car because he thought they were valet boys!

Plus three music videos; Finger Eleven-"One thing," Seether-"Gasoline," and Soil-"Redefine"

Disc 2:

Hair vs. Hair, Eddie vs. Chavo Jr: Now this was a very "interesting match" Chavo seemed to lose it at the end and starts to shave off his own hair and kept telling Eddie that they could be twins if he wanted. Yeah, kinda creepy. But anyway a funny match in some spots. 7.5/10

Ladder Match for the Intercontinental championship: Now this was a good ladder match between Eddie and RVD. Two ladders and a chair was used in this in some very hard hitting moves. Eddie powerbombed RVD off the ladder, RVd gave Eddie a kick which sent the chair into eddie's face. A scary moment though when Eddie fell off the ladder and almost fell on one of the legs on the floor, and when RVd lost his balance and fell as well. A great ladder match. 9/10

Triple Threat Match at Survivor series '02: A good triple threat match between the Guerreros, Benoit and Angle, and Mysterio and Edge. Second best match of that ppv that night. Eddie and Guerrero won the titles and thats where the whole LIE CHEAT STEAL motto started in my opinion. An excellent tag match, though slow in some spots. 8.5/10

US title tournament finals, Eddie vs. Benoit at Vengeance 03: A great technical battle that has Eddie up to his old tricks again. He stole and cheated his way to victory, but that is what we should expect nowadays, right? A good match. 8/10

Eddie vs. Lesnar, No Way Out 04: Finally, after five months of listening to Lesnar brag all the time, eddie finally dethrones the former youngest wwe champion ever! A match that showed the little guy can always pick up a victory if your not careful! Good match and the celebration afterwards was awsome! 10/10

The extras have: Eddie's mother has a heart attack! Confidential moments: YJ stinger commercial of eddie and the party he had. A behind the scenes shot of a low rider commercial, and several interviews with relatives. Plus a look at his match at WM 20 and how the Guerreros lie cheat steal thing got started.

Finally, this is a DVd worth your money, lots of extras and some great matches, plus a great story equals a ten star DVd!

An all-time great taken too soon.4
There is enough talk of wrestlers' deaths in the new at the moment without talking about it some more. But Eddie Guerrero's passing is one of the most tragic - at the time of his dying, he was a former world champion, was one of the most popular men in the WWE (check out the boos when he is elminated from the 2005 Royal Rumble if you own it) and had received redemption; at least he was happy when he passed on. However, when you hear Dean Malenko say on this DVD that he doesn't want to be one of those people who gets a call to say Eddie's dead in a hotel room...if you're anything like me, you'll break down and cry.

This DVD set was long overdue; Eddie is probably one of the greatest wrestlers of our time or any other, and a DVD is barely one iota of what he deserves. Unfortunately, it doesn't really live up to the task. The documentary portion of the DVD is Cheating Death, Stealing Life; having previously been shown on TV it is barely 45 minutes long. As such, it scarcely scratches the surface. It only just notes his career in Japan, his time in ECW or WCW, focusing instead on his drug problems outside of the ring. A fascinating, heartbreaking story yes, but it doesn't really do him justice.

The extras, however, go some way further to showing how great Eddie was - and how great a heritage the Guerrero name is - by compiling not only his matches, but his Los Guerreros vignettes, along with Chavo - some of the funniest vignettes the WWE ever produced ("You wouldn't want your pool to spring a leak and get full of water, would you?" "No...you might get wet."). There's also an AWA match featuring a young and slim Cactus Jack (later to become another WWE mainstay and three-time world champion as well as a best-selling author) teaming with two others against the original Guerrero team, including Eddie's father. It's a thrilling match and other special features shows that it was a Guerrero who even invented the moonsault.

The matches given here featuring Eddie are universally phenomenal. We have his world-title-winning matchup with the soon-to-leave Brock Lesnar, his magnificent ECW fairwell match with Dean Malenko (it has to be seen to be believed, they use some moves I've never seen before or since), and amazing cruiserweight title matches with Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho in their pre-WWE days.

Eddie was a phenomenal performer and this is an excellent release, but particularly in light of his death, I can't help but feel he deserves so much more.
