Amazon.co.uk Review
Considering that most Golden Era rap talents birthed by Dr. Dre have ridden off into the sunset--or are simply much less active and relevant in 2004--it's somewhat surprising that Snoop keeps churning out the hits like it was 1993. Make no mistake, Snoop's raps are still very much gangsta, as the title of the disc implies and as "Bang Out" clearly outlines. They're just a bit more adult-contemporary gangsta now. Despite the heavy pro-pimp overtones, the Doggfather's smoothed-out timbre and flow mask the harshness of his regressive views. The exceptional production throughout is highlighted by the Neptunes' contributions, from the catchy, minimalist "Drop It Like It's Hot" all the way to the '80s retro-funk jam "Let's Get Blown." Steady vocal contributions from funk stalwart Charlie Wilson (Gap Band) and 50 Cent, and nasty beats supplied by everyone from the Alchemist to Hi-Tek put this one over the top. --Dalton Higgins
CD Description
'R&G' is the seventh album from the US rapper Snoop Dogg. Featuring production work from The Neptunes and Snoop Dogg himself, the album sees the rapper continue with his slick gangsta brand of hip hop. Guest vocals come from the likes of Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Nelly, and 50 Cent to name but a few.

New Style
Well, I have to disagree with Ali-UK in one point, if your REALY into your rap, I dont think you will appreciate it. You could aruge tht Snoop has been away from Cali too long and needs to hitch up with Dre (which so many peeps point out). The album is produced by Neptunes, who are mainly RnB based. They may have made tunes for Jay-Z . N.O.R.E and other rap artists but most of the songs they produced are Rap/RnB (with vocal a chourus of some sort). I don't think you can compare this to 'Doggystyle' because they are on two ends of the continuim. Doggystyle is 'Gangsta Rap' and R&G is Rap/RnB.
The album is also funk, Charlie Wilson features in a load of the tracks - his voice always reminds me 'Snoops Upside Your Head' gives it a type of mellow rap feel with some 70s/80s grooves - 'earth, wind, and fire' comes to mind. Anyways i'm babbling! It is a good album, snoop brings his smooth semi-old style lyrics to Rap/RnB and they mix well, on a whole... this is a excellent choice. Tracks to look out for;
Signs - featuring Charlie Wilson & Justin Timberlake (probs my fav track)
Show You How A Gangsta Do - featuring Charlie Wilson
Perfect (Beautiful Part ii) - featuring Charlie Wilson
there are probably some more but i can't think at the moment!
Best Snoop album since Doggystyle
Since the classic Doggystyle album, every solo album snoop has realeased has been, average or below average therefore i lost abit of interest in Snoop as i thought his days were gone. After buying this album all i can say is that his days are far from gone! the beats are amazin and really flows, thanx to the Neptunes who produced most of the tracks. The lyrics is just what u would expect from the Dogg, the album is full of rhythm of gangsta music so the album REALLY lives up the titls Rhythm and Gangsta, buy this record if your into rap at all or even any music fan would enjoy this cd!!!!
r and g but not quite a masterpicece
i cant tell weather this album is good or bad it has good songs like ups and dwns and drop it like its hot and oh no with 50 cent but no dr dre to be seen the only album to even to come close to doggystyle was tha last meal but this is a good album
