Not bad for a "best of"
I don't own this because I've got all the originals and I'm not normally keen on compilations of any artist because they are someone else's idea of what was "best" and inevitably, the record companies tend to hold back a few of the real best ones for later release on the "very best of", "the essential", "return of the essential" and so on. But - on this occasion - it's an excellent set of songs here and a good place to start if you don't know Frank's music and want to get a decent taster. There are some stonking tracks here, particularly Peaches, Yellow Snow, San Ber'dino, Dirty Love, Cosmik Debris, Montana (awesome guitar solos), Valley Girl and Muffin Man (of which there's an even better live version on Halloween). At a ridiculous £4.98, how can you lose?
Zappa Genius
I am a great fan of the late and always great Frank Zappa. His lyrics mixed with his superb guitar skills provide a perfect match for what is certainly a great album with all his greatest creations from He's so gay to my personal favourite Bobby Brown!
This is a superb set. If you are a fan of the man this is a must buy, if you are a fan of rock and roll likewise and if you like your comedy you will be laughing your 'heinie' off for hours on end. Highly reccomended!
Best of Zappa
I bought Zappa Plays Zappa and as my original Zappa albums were nearly all on vinyl I decided to buy this.
Good choice of tracks from the multitude he produced. It was good to listen to some tracks I hadn't heard in a while. And those lyrics..... brilliant.
Great album, great memories.
