Customer Reviews

Not perfect, but a great compilation4
Seth Cohen's famous made-up holiday, which combines Christmas and Hannukah, gets its own soundtrack. This is the third O.C. compilation to be released, but it is different in that it has two main themes to work from, instead of just a random compilation of unrelated tunes.

We're given covers of famous Christmas songs, such as Rooney's version of "Merry Christmas Everybody", some less positive Christmas songs, such as the Eels' "Christmas is going to the Dogs", and a rock version of a famous Hannukah song, Ben Kweller's "Rock of Ages".

The O.C. albums have always been a perfect way of discovering lesser known indie bands, and this CD is no exception. It is a fine addition to your collection, and if you own either or both of the last two O.C. CDS, this is a must have.

Lovely Christmas compilation5
Considering that this is both the soundtrack for an American teen drama, *and* a Christmas album, it's probably not the CD of choice for most music fans. But this CDs an absolute gem, and deserves a place in anyone's music collection.
Jimmy Eat World's cover of 'Last Christmas' is so good it erases memories of primary school discos and Andrew Ridgeley. Rooney's cover (the only other one on the album) isn't quite as good, but the lazy, slurred vocals sound fantastic with the tight playing.
It's hard to write credible Christmas songs, but considering the names here it's no wonder these bands can pull it off. The Ravonettes opener is sublime, full of echo and atmosphere. And listen to the drums on 'Just Like Christmas'! They sound like they're bing played in a cave.
'Christmas' is a really, really lovely song, as are all the tracks on here. It's a nice short compilation, with no weak tracks. Fantastic and festive, and you should get it.

hmmmmm3
Good as a sound track album but not as good as the music from the show compilations, I got it to complete the set but if you just like the TV shows tunes get the other albums as they are FaNtAsTiC and spot on for the new UK music scene thats bringing back gu twanger lead tunes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
