Synopsis
The popular TV series 21 JUMP STREET was the springboard for Johnny Depp's career and a major influence on 1980s teen culture. It paved the way for other gritty and yet glamorous depictions of adolescent life, such as BEVERLY HILLS 90210. Officer Tom Hanson (Depp) and his band of agents fight crime from the schools to keep them safe from corrupt influences. This first season has guest appearances by notable actors Jason Priestley, Josh Brolin, Sherilyn Fenn, and Blair Underwood.

Jump! Down on Jump Street...
An 80's tv classic. This first series is the most lighthearted of the show's running, and it's great fun - not only for the novelty of Holly Robinson's hair. The episodes in this first series are not as sophisticated as later series but they are written very well and are all interesting and worth a watch.
The best of the bunch include 'Gotta finish the riff' where Hanson and Hoffs both go undercover - Hanson as a geek (with a brilliant voice) and Hoffs as a bit of a tart. A fun episode, with a great new character introduced and it is this particular episode that Peter DeLuise gives a commentary (very funny - listen out for the 'what in god's name do you want?' guy).
This series introduces the much loved McQuaid brothers in 'blindsided' - they return 3 more times in later series.
The first series is very strong, with some great cameos and it doesn't seem as dated as you might think (although Ioki's outfits are pretty offensive).
The dvd extras are well worth a look - the commentary by star Peter DeLuise on 'Gotta finish the riff' is very entertaining and he gives some great anecdotes on the kind of things the cast got up to on set. Similarly, the interviews included are all interesting, entertaining and fun to watch.
If you're a fan of the show, or you love the 80's, or you're a fan of Johnny Depp then I urge you to buy this dvd. You won't be disappointed.
You're gunna learn something when we meet you after school!
Brilliant viewing for all Depp fans!
I bought this dvd for my daughter, she is a huge Johnny depp fan, and had never seen 21 jump street, she had heard of it and said she would like to see it.
She loved the Dvd, she watches it over and over again.
The storylines are well written, and compulsive viewing, each episode is different, once you start to watch this dvd you will find yourself not wanting to switch off!.
Johnny depp is brilliant in this series!.
S0, if you love Johnny depp, or know someone who does this is a definate must have dvd to buy!.
Do not take seriously.... honestly
This program is very very funny. The sad thing is I think the writer meant it to be funny because of his jokes, but the only reason I was laughing was because of the extraordinary amount of cheese inserted into the dialogue. This is most definitely not an award winning script. If you buy this DVD set then be prepared for some very memorable one liners along the lines of 'next time my car breaks down don't stop, or a least don't look so damn cute'
Also you seem to pick up other things about the program such as when one of the characters is watching a television program, the credits always say that it was written by the writer of 21 Jump Street itself, which seems to me slightly unecessary. Don't expect too much variation on the storylines either, most of them involve pretending to be a high school student and helping some kid who's fallen in with a bad crowd.
Don't get me wrong I love this program, but not because of the writing. The acting is good for the quality of the script, and if you are a johnny depp fan you may want to watch this.
