Rooster's cracking debut album could not have come at a better time. The world has become accustomed to less than good looking teenagers who, while no doubt nefariously put together by insidious management teams, write their own material and manage to play it live too. Busted, granddaddies of this new niche, are sadly no more. Heavier, harder and funkier, Rooster are here to fill this vortex with their own killer pop tunes. McFly beware.

Nick Atkinson's throaty rasp combined with distinctly heavier, Zepplin-style riffs set them apart. If Mcfly were influenced by the Sixties, then Rooster draw heavily from the Seventies. Lead single "Come Get Some" demonstrates their mission statement admirably. "Standing In Line" sounds like adolescent Free and, moving into the Eighties, the frivolous fun of Bon Jovi and Def Leppard happily flows through the songs like Jon Bon Jovi's mullet flapping in the breeze. "Staring At The Sun" and "To Die For" are ballads – not their strength--and occasionally they hit thin, MOR naffness, but overall this is a fine effort. --Ben Johncock

Rock's Back
Joyride- One of the best openers for an album..., this should have been a single, great chorus with fantastic guitar 10/10

Come Get Some- Fantastic song, great catchy guitar riff, it will stick in your head for days, perfect first single. The acoustic guitar is a fantastic touch. 10/10

Standing In Line- Yet another fantastic song, the verses slightly let this down but the chorus is fantastic, and as with the first two songs you can't help but sing to it.

Staring At The Sun- Second single it's easy to see why. Definate Bon Jovi influences here. You can nearly see the lighters waving in the air. 10/10

To Die For- Things slow down a bit here and I found this track to be a bit of a grower, and I have to say I love it now. Great use of the acoustic guitar, and yet again another fantastic chorus. 9/10

You're So Right For Me- This was the third single Rooster released. There are other tracks o this album that would have been more worty of a single release eg. Joyride, but it's still a great song and a great way to pick up the album after two slower songs. 9/10

Platinum Blind- Ths is a powerhouse of a song. There are definate Def Leppard influences (this song wouldn't go amiss on the Euphoria album) but not ebough to accuse Rooster of a rip off. 9/10

Deep And Meaningless- The Bon Jovi influence is visible in this song, a great power ballad, something bands don't do nowadays, which is possible why it didn't do too well in the charts. It's a fantastic song though, with fantastic guitar lined all the wat thrpugh the song. 10/10

On The Road- A good solid song, not strong enough for a single but still good enough to be on the album, and as with every other song, this chorus makesthis irresistable to sing along to. 8/10

She Don't Make Me Feel- The worst song on the album altough when you consider the strength of every other song that doesn't make this a bad song, yet another strong chorus, something just doens't seem to fit in this song. 8/10

Angels Calling- Another ballad, cracking song, yet another blend between electric and acoustic. great lyrics and needless to say yet another flawless chorus. 10/10

Drag The Sunrise Down- The heaviest song on the album and a great way to close it. 10/10

This is one of the greatest albums of all time and unfortunately it seems to have been underreated by a lot of people as Rooster seem to be labelled as another McFly or Busted band. The difference is that Rooster are a rock band not a boyband and actually have talent which i'm sure will be shown on their second album. I highly recommned this album to ayone who either loves rock music or simply wantsd to listen to something refreshing and different to all the other guff out there.

Night Comes Down On The Darkness
As a tired 49 year old git, I thought that the current music scene had lost its guts and that real rock music had, ironically, quietly expired over the last 15 years, with nothing that proved to be the real thing once the surface was scratched. By the most remarkable chance (because of where I live), I happened to see Rooster on TOTP playing "Come Get Some" before its release. I was very impressed.

I had hopes, which I fully expected to be dashed, for this album. It has, however, proved to be full of strong tunes, thoughtfully written and very well played, proving that the spirit of rock is still alive. This outstanding album sounds like something from my youth, and I commend it to anyone who likes their music unchoreographed, without dancing girls, without flash, with real rock rhythms and with real substance.

I sincerely hope that this is not a flash in the pan and proves that the kids really do want to rock, after all. Even if it is, this is just very, very good. Buy it now, and if you like it, tell others to do the same. These guys deserve it, and music needs it, otherwise Girls Aloud featuring some other non-entity will rule the world and that would be the ultimate victory for the Dark side. In three words: a superb debut.

fantastic album!!
this is definately my favourite album so far this year... Firstly Rooster are NOTHING LIKE BUSTED -- and I really really don't understand where that comparison has come from -- its totally annoying! I think they appeal to an older fanbase than busted as well!! Rant over...
I personally love every song on this album & its been on repeat non stop since I got it. It has got that Bon Jovi/Aerosmith vibe to it which works brilliantly... Best songs are Deep and Meaningless, Drag the sunrise down and You're so right for me - although i love all of them... Can't wait to go see them in April!! Buy it -- it definately won't dissapoint!!!
