Editorial Reviews

Album Description
RINALDI SINGS play a stylish and uptempo brand of pop that acknowledges a deep debt to the orchestrated bubblegum Northern Soul of the late Sixties. Described by the NME as "a cocksure 21st Century Scott Walker", singer/songwriter Steve Rinaldi has crafted an album strong on melody and rich in powerful pop hooks. A contemporary take on the sound of acts like The Foundations and The Love Affair, ‘What’s It All About?’ boasts the kind of addictive brass riffs and soaring string arrangements that have led many music critics to liken Rinaldi Sings to orchestrated indie pop acts like My Life Story and the Divine Comedy. But Steve Rinaldi continues to make music quite unlike anything else on the market and continues to surprise listeners with his distinctive cockney pop. Definitely one of THE discoveries of 2005.

Customer Reviews

Orchestrated power-pop bubblegum for the 21st century!5
The whole package - sleeve, music, production, Steve Rinaldi's slim black tie, white shirt, silver-grey mohair suit and tasselled loafer combination - simply insists that here's a performer with style. Every tune is a homage to late-60's Brit lounge and soul music (think Scott Walker, Tony Hatch, Foundations, etc.). Rinaldi's lush music and honed sense of immaculate presentation is clearly a suited-and-booted reaction to the slovenly dress and demeanour of the post-Strokes generation; very much music for 'chaps' to watch girls by. Also, with Paul Bevoir (The Jetset) arranging, Ed Ball (The Times) directing the promotional videos, and Rinaldi himself (one-time member, of course, of The Moment), this is a post-80's Mod extravaganza updated in that retro kind of way. Pour yourself a cocktail, slip into that cardigan and cravat, stick it on your Dansette, crank up the volume, and get ready to "blow those bleedin' doors off!!!"

Great 60's vibe5
Wasn't sure whether or not I was going to like this but it was recommended by a friend so thought I would give it a try. Am loving it. Great tongue in cheek 60's pop feel to it. The arrangments are excellant. A must for all those who love 60's style pop. A real feel good CD

I'm singing with Rinaldi!5
FANTASTIC!! This is real toe tapping pop by real musicians. I defy anyone not to be uplifted by Happy, reflect over Come Again, and have Heaven Knows repeat over & over in your head. Rollercoater Ride is a sure fire No1. This is a must have CD for the summer of 2005.
