Customer Reviews

Ah the early years!4
Anthrax are a band who I think have stood the test of time with their being consistently good but this is the very beginning. With Neil Turbin on vocals and Dan Lilker on bass, Fistful of Metal was their first release. Like the first Metallica and Slayer albums, Anthrax have yet to develop their sound, with nods to earlier bands. The production isn't brilliant but I still like it. Deathrider (I love the cow bell) and Metal Thrashing Mad kickstart the album followed by the Alice Cooper cover I'm Eighteen. Favourite track for me is Panic but I think the album is consistently good.

Armed and Dangerous introduce Joey and Frank to the band along with a much better production job. The title track is great. Most of the other tracks are live versions of tracks from the first. Also here is their cover version of God Save The Queen - a live favourite early on. Spreading the Disease was just around the corner.

Where it all began, happy listening!

m.p.3 sound do not buy!!!!!!2
Normally I Would give This Release A Five Star But On Listening To This Release Its Clear To Me That It Has Been Printed Using M.p.3 BackUp And The Sound Is Week And Watery, Its A Shame As This Is My Favourite Anthrax Album So Be Warned This Release Is Bad Quality Sound.

One of the classic first albums of thrash metal.4
When Metallica released Kill 'em all in 1983 it took the world by storm and started a new revolution of sound. This album followed a year later and was greatly in the style of Kill 'em All.
It is raw in its sound and has Niel Turbin on Vocals and bassist Dan Liker (later the bassist for Nuclear Assault & S.O.D.).
It is not generally listed as the bands classic years (Spreading the Disease through to Persistance of time) due to the absense of Joey Belladonna but is definetely a classic first and is a classic album in the bigger picture of the early days of thrash metal. For fans of Metallica's Kill 'em All this is a recommended buy. Play the two back to back to re-live the early raw sound that first exploded on the Heavy Metal scene back in the 83/84. Just like Metallica's Kill em all there are plenty of screams and screaches not seen on the later thrash metal albums.
The E.P. that is included paves the way for the greatest Anthrax years that followed (Spreading the Disease through to Persistance of time) with new (& to be classic) Anthrax line up with Joey Belladonna on vocals and Frank Bello on Bass.
