Customer Reviews
oh no
Smackdown got a chance to end the year of 2004 with their own brand of pay per view and they produced a pretty poor event, with the exception of two matches this event was bad and when you consider that this was followed by the hideous new years revolution 2005 then thats two bad pay per views in a row and yet we will always forgive the WWE,ah well.
The event started with a promising tag team match for the WWE tag team championship, the champions rey mysterio and rob van dam went up against rene dupree and kenzo suzuki, this match was skillful and flew by with good wrestling and a good pace running throughout, hard to fault.
Next up we had a real howler as kurt angle fought santa claus,a 25 second match that did nothing and i mean nothing, what the heck was this all about.
The tough enough series which wasnt popular in truth was up next as the final two entrants fighting for a WWE contract and a million dollars squared off in a dixie fogfight which is just a term for a boxing match, the final two were daniel puder and mike mizanin, this proved to be a timewasting scam as it went on and on and in the end i have only one word for it-garbage.
An unscheduled fight was up next and that is never a good sign, the basham brothers went up against charlie haas and hardcore holly and this was just awful,it truly was a waste of 5 minutes.next please.
John cena went up against the terrible wrestler jesus next in a streetfight, jesus didnt last long in the WWE and he proved to be terrible in this, talk about a one sided fight, there was some good slaps and blood flowing but this wasnt that good, cena did himself no harm here but the world knew that he was fighting a flipping pudding.
Jacki fought dawn marie with charlie haas as guest ref, that is all i will say.
A three on one handicap match was up next as the big show went up against kurt angle, luther reigns and mark jindrak. This was a real dogs dinner of a match with luther reigns and jindrak overselling moves and botching them and wrecking this match, there was an instance when big show barely pushed reigns and he flew over the top rope,i was blushing for a hour after this,no flow,no heart,no reason for this kind of indignity.
The crusierweight title was up next as the champion spike dudley fought funaki, this match wasnt that good, the crowd werent that fussed on it and both men were holding something back so the match wasnt a free for all of talent and aggression,in fact there wasnt even that much in the way of high flying moves,i didnt rate this.
The main event was next and was a 25 minute lesson in brutality and all men worked their socks off,the match looked good on paper as JBL,the WWE champion went up against three others who were made up of the undertaker, booker T and eddie guerrero in a fatal four way match, one fall would decide all. This was a match filled with carnage and desire, passion and relentless energy,i really enjoyed it,a ladder even featured which is always good,a faultless match but a far from fautless event, one for a collector like myself only.

Below Average
I cannot recall the exact order of the matchs but that doesn't really matter anyway. This was an average event that at times was painful to sit through, and I love watching wrestling.
1) Miss Jackie vs Dawn Marie with Charlie Haas as Guest Referee - a strange match, I thought the whole point was to turn Charlie heel, ah well never mind - 3/10
2) The Dixie Dog Fight - a totla DUD. Complete waste of time - 0/10
3) Spike Dudley vs Funaki - this was a good match but they just threw Funaki in there without any real build up other than a pinfall the previous week, the cowrd seem dead because of this - 6/10
4) RVD and Rey Mysterio vs Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree - lets pit it this way, its a good job RVD and rey rey were here or this match would have been a DUD. Kenzo is terrible and Rene is still honing his ahem skills - 7/10
5) Big Show vs Luther Reigns, Mark Jundrack and Kurt Angle - you would think anything with Angle in it would be awesome, think again, a bad match - 5/10
6) John Cena vs Jesus - on second viewing I found the match pretty enjoyable. They made it a street fight because Jesus is a bad wrestler. Even though the match is basically a squash it is a refreshing change from the previous poor matches - 7/10
7) JBL vs Undertaker vs Eddie vs Booker T - the only match worth buying this DVD for. This is a great match and has some brilliant moments, such as when Taker sits up afetr being hit with two frog splashes from Eddi - 10/10
In conclusion I would say this a poor event, I hate to give WWE shows a low mark but Armageddon deserved it, it was a terrible show that was saved by a decent street fight and an excellent main event. If you are a collector like me then I would recommend it, but if you are looking for a few good quality matches this is not the DVD for you.
