great rumble itself with a wishy washy undercard 3
royal rumble 2005 was an event with a few matches that lasted just a few minutes too long so in that respect they outstayed their welcome, the matches in question with the exception of one were good matches, its just that they lasted alot longer than some would imagine.
The opening match of the night was a great match between two men with similar styles, shawn michaels vs edge, the match was highly charged and the crowd were in good voice from the get go,the match was filled with tempo changes and the incentives changed rapidly,in the end little could seperate them bar a bit of cheating and the contest opened the event with some polish.
Some have said in criticism of the next match,a casket match that it didnt last long so the match can be forgiven,i say it lasted too long at close to 15 minutes of pointlessness, the winner would never be in doubt and we all know that at this stage heidenreich was nothing more than a jobber, sent in to lose basically,he went up against the undertaker in a match that dragged like a snake with a metal suit on,it was just dull and wasnt fluent enough in any thing other than average, heid made the taker look bad in fact, the pair of rivals did nothing to help each other out, despite outside interferance and a surprise inside the casket, this wasnt worth talking about in the years that followed.
Next up was a triple threat match for the wwe championship, the holder JBL went up against kurt angle and the big show, this match wasnt that great, the outside interference was frantic here with both JBL and angle getting plenty of help, whatever happened to luther reigns dear readers, anyway this lead to confusion and mayhem and a winner of course, not great but certainly eventful.
triple h went up against his once evolution member randy orton next, the match was laboured in places, certainly slow but equally it had some quality which saved it,it lasted over 20 minutes but wont go down as a classic in my eyes,i felt the oppenents tired but one thing is for sure in my mind, orton did not fake his injury in the match ,he became a blur and his balance was affected and the match still went on even though he could have been pinned at any stage thereafter, this hurt the match in some ways but thats life,by no means a classic but it started well, got a bit podgy in the middle and then died a death at the end but the start was the cats cream.
Onto the royal rumble match itself,15 raw and 15 smackdown superstars, all with the chance to get a shot at the title at wrestlemania 21,the royal rumble match itself did have the odd average superstar but the quality was highly maintained and the match was very eventful and highly enjoyable, controversy reared its head at the end and vince mcmahon seemed to suffer an injury as he jumped into the ring and all in all this was a good event with some average moments and as i study it i give it 3.5 out of 5.

Royal Rumble 2005- best royal rumble in years!!4
Ok really good payperview just mayby a couple of long matches (not encluding rumble lol)-Overall rating 9/10

Shawn Michaels vs Edge- not quite sure how this match came together but both give it their best and I think pulled it off. (Bear in mind both men go on to the rumble later!)-7/10

Casket match
Undertaker vs Heidenreich- a good match both men fight hard and make a great match (interference from Snitsky and Kane who was inside the casket!)-8/10

Triple threat for the Wwe title
JBL vs Kurt Angle vs Big Show- a hard fought match by all three but in the end JBL just has the money (literally!)-9/10

World Heavyweight title match
Triple H vs Randy Orton- I liked this`match as for once people were cheering for Randy- he rocks! (my opinion lol). Anyway this was a long one and Randy just couldn't go on near the end.-8/10

Royal Rumble match- loved it! Had everything that stupid tough enough kid got taken to school and the final two superstars left are the at the top of each their rosters!-10/10

Extras- exclusive interviews, extra match and different audios

So thats that Royal Rumble 2005 summed up!
