Rock Deluxe!
I'm a relative newcomer to Joe Bonamassa, having first come across his music about six to eight months prior to writing this review. Since then I have been buying his back catalogue of albums at quite a steady rate. Sloe Gin was among the first albums I bought by Joe, who always seems to able to mix blues and rock music together effortlessly. Having purchased several albums since, including his latest ("The Ballad of John Henry") I always fet Sloe Gin was his strongest effort and whilst the title track from that song is still easily in my top 3 JB songs, I think "So, It's Like That", the album you see here, is a superior album. To the best of my knowledge this is one of the earliest JB albums (where he is not using the Smokin' Joe tag at least) and he has released quite a few after this, including Sloe Gin.

So what sets this album apart from the rest? Well, first and foremost this is very much a rock album with virtually no hint of blues to be found, with the only real exception perhaps being the title track. This appeals to me because I come from a predominantly rock background. This features some of the most firey and rocky music I think Joe has ever put out. He throws in a couple of softer songs too which are a joy to listen to, such as the beautiful "Waiting For Me". I prefer Joe when he focuses more on the rock aspect of his music because I'm not a big listener of more traditional blues (even though I have great respect for the genre). If you sit on the opposite side of the fence I think this album will offer you far less than say, Blues Deluxe (as the title suggests, a predominantly bluesy album from Joe). As for me, I'm loving this album; in comparion to Blues Deluxe this album could most certainly be called Rock Deluxe! In fact, I enjoy every JB album I've ever bought (which will soon be his entire catalogue).

Would I say "So, It's Like That" is my favourite JB album? Well, I'd say it's definitely in the Top One! 5/5

get ALL Bonamassa NOW
All Joe Bonamassa's albums are absolute must have for all interested in good rock and blues guitar playing. This is major league, this guy is head and shoulders above the competition - when Clapton retires or dies he can take his place as the white "guitar God". And he's got a good voice too. VERY impressed with Joe, and I have thousands of CD's with Freddie King, BB KIng, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray, ... well all of them. Joe Bonamassa is THE MAN.

Music review
Got hooked on Bonamassa a couple of years ago and have been building up my collection. Good for early years and traces development musically. Don't expect the finesse of later years' numbers but still a good listen.
