Product Description

Debut album from young Canadian singer songwriter. Thwartedby dyslexia in his childhood quest to become a classical violinist, he turned to the piano and pop songwriting. His album, full of radio friendly, piano driven adult pop, has echoes of soft rock acts such as Coldplay, Maroon 5 and Gavin DeGraw. Produced by Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Maria McKee, Crowded House) and Powter's longterm collaborator Jeff Dawson, it includes the single 'Bad Day'.

Spread the Word! This is the MUSIC we LOVE!5
It's not often you find an artist who can release a CD where every song is a potential number 1. Well, I found one in Daniel Powter. Every song is a masterpiece. There is no such thing as a "filler" in this CD. I listen to the CD over and over, each song twice before moving on to the next. His voice is smooth, soft, flowing. It's tantalizing, and we haven't had anything like that in a long time. His falsetto is welcomed surprise, incredibly controlled and rythmic. Unfortunatley, many have compared Daniel Powter to the likes of Adam Levine and James Blunt, but trust me, take some time to listen...really listen to this CD. It won't take long for you to realize that Daniel Powter is in league of his own. He's stepping away from the same ol' same. He has given those of us who really, truly appreciate music, lyrics and the emotions that music can bring out in you, something worth listening to. Songs like "Jimmy Gets High" and the incredibly popular "Bad Day" are just two examples of the enormous talent behind this CD. (And, on a side note, it helps that he's majic on the piano and easy on the eyes).

3.5 stars - good, but expected great!!3
I agree with a lot of the previous reviewers - I bought this on the basis of 'Bad Day', which is a fantastic pop track, and found the rest of the album was altogether more mellow. After a couple of listens, it does grow on you, its lyrically very good, but is a little 'samey'. I also agree with previous posts that the falsetto can get irritating at times.
Overall, though, not a bad effort, and worth a listen.

Nice Surprise!5
I bought this CD on the strength of Bad Day which I love. At first I wasn't sure about the album as none of the songs are anything like Bad Day - it stands alone. However, after a couple of listens, it really started to grow on me. Such a wide range of sounds from the punchy Suspect to the beautiful Jimmy Gets High. Although there are only 10 tracks, there are no filler tracks. Wholehearedly recommended.
