Manufacturer's Description
One of the most important accessories for each lens you own. A lens hood provides multiple functions: it shades the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality; in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens; and it protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles.

Customer Reviews

Hoodwinked4
I am pleased with this product. It is necessarily quite large in diameter but the wings do not need to be too large. This product has the balance right and as soon as I took it out of the box I was impressed at the apparent robustness of the hood. It is certainly well made, but its size might prohibit leaving it on the lens. This will depend on camera bag space and storage sytem.
Other than that it will always be my contention that Canon should provide this hood with the lens.

Works well with the EF-S 10-22mm4
It should have been included with the EF-S 10-22mm lens. Canon is not really nice with its "amateur" customer, even if it is not a L lens it is cheap to not include it compare to the competition.

Lens hood for wide ange zoom5
What can I say? It is a lens hood, it goes on the end of a lens - in my case Canon's 17 - 40, and it protects the end furthest from the camera and helps reduce flair when shooting into the light.

It does all this very well and it is strongly built.

I bought it because I didn't bother to read the full technical details in the Amazon ad that told me that a lens hood was included - silly me!

I now realise of course, that all Canon L lenses come with the approprate hood.

PS anyone want to buy a Canon EW-83E boxed brand new, never used?!
