Busy mum loves this game
My 9 year old loves this game, we thoroughly recommend it. The game practices maths, reading and geography skills but is fun and exciting.
Cluefinders DVD
This dvd is a good follow-on from Cludfinders Year 3. The work is obviously progressively harder but the format is very similar to the previous DVD and the children seem to enjoy this familiarity meaning they can quite quickly work on their own and just seeking help when they need it. A good use as preparation for Year 4 or as a back-up for work covered at school but in a more fun way.
an excellent educational and FUN game
I bought this as part of the triple pack for my son who'd outgrown his jump ahead games (which we enjoyed so much we bought all the set from nursary upwards).
I'd found the year 3 game good but a little disappointing, but this game doesn't have any of the problems i had with the year 3 game.
The level of graphics and story is much better than the jump ahead games (it's very 'cartoony' though and so don't expect fabulous graphics compared to some of the modern 'realistic' games - but it's great for the age range concerned).
It also has a good 'story' whereby, a cartoon sequence plays each time the player reaches a certain part of the game - showing how the mystery is being solved. this is certainly good for an older child. It's a bit corny for an adult, but the kids love it.
The best thing i like about it though, is the games, it feels like there's ALOT of games to play each teaching different skills - on the back is seems to have fewer than the year 3 game, but i suspect it feels more because children have to really practice before unlocking the next level - a definite improvement from year 3 game.
Also the game automatically adjusts the level and you can monitor which levels the child has found tricky and which one's they've done well in. My son was completely engrosed, and finished the game pretty quickly, i'm hoping that once he's finsihed all the games, he'll revisit it and play the game again on a slightly harder level.
A real thumbs up from me.
