Manufacturer's Description
Play both sides as Ultimate Spider-Man allows gamers to take on the role of super hero Spider-Man AND super villain Venom in the most revolutionary Spider-Man experience ever! Penned and illustrated by famed comic book creators Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley, the game picks up right where the story left off. Dive into an immersive adventure as you experience a living comic book illustrated with 3D Comic Inking Technology that literally brings the comic to life in every action-packed frame.
The game's expanded, free-roaming environments deliver a deep adventure with a variety of challenging missions, diverse game play and an improved combat system that allows players to face off against the largest number of characters from the Spider-Man universe ever assembled in one video game.
The two distinct combat systems allow players to defeat enemies differently, using Spider-Man's fluid, acrobatic moves or Venom's brute force.

Ultimate Game
From the moment Ultimate Spiderman starts, you are blown away. The usage of comic fmv mixed into gameplay is excellent, because you cant tell difference with fmv graphics and games own graphics. The gameplay has stepped up a level, you may mistake the game from being an upgrade to Spiderman 2. The only thing thats the same is word Spiderman. You have New York and Queens for a start, the are more secrets more well known baddies and also the marvel guest or two. One put off is being a Villian Venom. The thing is Venom isnt really Villian but a Victim. Venom is extremely powerful and very scary. The sound and graphics are from marvels library of artists. This is must for any console owner, especially the unlockable art work
BE LEGENDARY... BE PREDATORY..... BE BOTH!!!!!!
This is the best game I have ever played! I have been looking forward to this game ever since I heard that it was going to be released. And it was all that I expected it to be, and more!
In this game you play as both Spider-man and Venom. There are more Spider-man characters in this game then there ever has been in any Spider-man game.
Free-roam the streets of New York City (that includes the addition of Queens), and complete various city missions and story missions. You can even race Jonny Storm (a.k.a The Human Torch of the Fantastic Four)!
This game is worth every last penny! BUY IT!
A Good Game But Could Have Been Better
The first thing that strikes you about this game will be the graphics. Unlike the previous two movie related Spider Man titles, this game is different, yet the same and the graphics are one of the main changes.
Done in true comic book style, the colours are bold, bright and vivid. Enemy muscles and body proportions are ridiculously over the top and the subtle shading of the previous titles is replaced by blatantly contrasting colours and thick outlines, just as if you’d picked it up at a news stand.
The controls have minor changes from previous games and a lot of the combos have been simplified or removed, giving it a much rawer feel. The storyline itself is of a reasonable quality but the main thing people need to realise is that this is set in Marvel Comic’s ‘Ultimate’ universe. The Ultimate universe is subtly yet noticeably different to the spidey comics and movies with Spidey himself being a lot younger.
Much of the gameplay is a little repetitive, especially for those who’ve played the previous games with the same city based missions of getting guys to hospitals, stopping runaway cars etc so something was needed to make this one a little different, and boy did they achieve that.
As the story unfolds, you find yourself switching between Spidey and one of his main enemies in the form of Venom and this adds a new level to the gameplay. Venom plays very differently from spidey with superpowered leaps and brute force replacing the webswinging and agility making for a great distraction
Overall, Ultimate Spiderman could have been better. Once the novelty of playing as Venom and the new graphic style have worn off, there is the distinct ‘deja vue’ feeling for those who’ve played the previous games and it is lacking in originality. Despite this, it’s still a fun game with a good storyline and plenty of action. It will certainly fill a few hours but is unlikely to be a game you come back to again and again.
