WOW!!
This is an exceptionally talented Seattle-based singer/songwriter. 1st heard of her thro' Grey's Anatomy & what a find!! There isn't a 'filler' song on the whole CD. The range of her voice & the emotions she conveys are fantastic. Voice very clear & wholesome. Apparently this girl is more interested in her songs/singing than stardom.......what a lovely change. Also have to give a nod to the 'twins' Phil & Tim Hanseroth (formerly from the band-fighting machinists) & celloist Josh Neuman, who complete the 'brandi carlile' band. I tried to pick the most notable tracks out, but would have ended up listing most of them!!! Hope you enjoy. great fansite againtoday.com/brandicarlile.com & she has a myspace page. I was so impressed that I pre-ordered 'The Story'-digipak- CD based on this album & that's also great, Live @ Neumos is also brill especially 'Hiding my heart'!!
Artist to Watch.
Whilst collecting Missy Higgins cds Amazon recommended The Story by Brandi Carlile. Probably because both are up-and-coming Singer/Songwriters, whom rolling stone have described either Artist of the Year or Artist to Watch. So as i did with Missy Higgins without hearing any track or indeed knowing who she was i purchased The Story which apparently according to Wikipedia has gone to no 1 in Portugal. Brandi Carlile is another refreshing young talent who as with the other artist should be set for success once they have broken through in this country. Anybody who hasn,t purchased The Story should read the (45)reviews to date, i gave it a WOW. On the strength of that album and the fact that Brandi Carlile is undoubtedly talented i purchased this album her 1st BRANDI CARLILE released in 2005 it doesn,t appear to have charted anywhere not even in the USA. But that,s not taking anything away from it. It,s (And this is my opinion) not as strong as The Story but you can see in her songwriting why her second album has become much bigger and more successful. My favourite tracks are WHAT CAN I SAY, CLOSER TO YOU and THROW IT ALL AWAY. This is good album which keeps getting better the more you play it. As other reviewers of her work have said she could become a huge star and when that happens you,ll want to say iv,e got everything she,s ever done. I,m more than happy with this cd give it a try i did.
