At last - a collection of the very best Dire Straits songs combined with Mark Knopfler's solo efforts. And a double CD is available of this as well which is a bonus. Whereas the previous greatest hits compilation 'Sultans of Swing' was somewhat disappointing - too many good songs were edited and a couple of disappointing live renditions of songs were included instead of the superior studio versions (check out 'Love Over Gold' and you will know what I mean, its available on this collection in its original 6min studio version with the brilliant solo at the end). Every track is superb on this CD, and full length versions of all songs are available here. The double version is probably a better buy but the single disc is good enough. A must for any serious collection.

When you get music as good as this on 2 CDs with excellent quality it can't be bad.

Starting with disc 2,well I/ve got to be honest only Going Home (Theme From The Local Hero) is essential.

Now disc 1 its all esential except Money For Nothing & maybe Walk Of Life.

The remainder can easily be played straight through from Telegraph Road all the way to Your Latest Trick.

Their first hit,Sultans Of Swing,is a prime example of great guitar playing & this song has never reached a stage when I think,I don't want to hear it again.
It was the same with The Byrds Mr Tambourine Man & Jimi Hendrix Hey Joe.

So if melodic guitar sounds which are at times delicate & others more forceful,you should get this album.
