Manufacturer's Description
With a total output of 100 Watts RMS, the SANYO DAB03 is one of the most powerful DAB micro systems currently available. With a DAB hi-fi system most major town and cities can receive between 30 and 50 radio stations which is more than double what's available via a traditional analogue radio. The DAB-03 radio delivers CD like sound quality and access to the new and varied stations which are only available with DAB.

DAB Radio is also very easy to use, no more searching the dial for your favourite stations, with DAB, each station is searchable by name; some even include information such as news flashes or stocks and share price information. The FM tuner also supports RDS (Radio Data System) this also very useful as it allows you to store your selected stations by name. With RDS you can also receive text information such as the latest traffic news or programme content.

Not only will you benefit from all of the extra and exciting radio stations, the DAB-03 also includes a powerful CD player. The CD will play a host of different formats - you may have recorded your favourite tracks on to CD-R, or CD-RW or you may even have MP3 tracks recorded on to CD all of which you can play through the DAB-03.

Connect your SANYO DAB03 to your DVD or Video player and enjoy a cinema like sound experience at home, or listen in private via the headphone socket. The LCD screen is clear and has a back-light facility so can be easily read in darker environments. The clock and timer functions are handy and allow you to use the DAB as clock/alarm radio. The DAB03 also offers a very responsive Sound Equalisation with Rock, POP, Jazz and classic preset modes all catered for and which are enhanced by the in-built Bass Xpander. Supplied with a remote control giving you access to all of the systems main functions.

Purchase this product confident that it comes from a leading Japanese brand with over 50 years experience in consumer electronics.

    Sanyo DC-DAB03 poor quality1
I have had 2 of these DAB units now, believing that the first one was faulty. I am a bit of a hi-fi fanatic, so I tested this unit against several other makes in the same position. The results were that the DAB tuner in this unit is seriously flawed. The signal wanders instead of locking in, and reception varies every time the station is retuned. It is possible to get good reception for a short period, but it's like throwing dice each time you re-tune. All other units I tested showed strong signal strength and reliability - this model is far worse than the cheapest small radios you can find. The tests were conducted 1/2 mile from the local DAB transmitter and in direct line of sight - this unit still couldn't pick up the signal. Don't waste your money buying this seriously flawed unit which doesn't do what it says on the box!

    cheap, not worth it!!2
Sanyo on paper has it all, 100 wattsof music power, |MP3 player, DAB tuner and FM tuner. Both tuners are OK, but DAB tuner has only 10 presets. Needs a good aerial.

Sound from CD is awful! Only buy it for the tuners.

    Be warned bad DAB reception.2
I selected the sanyo DC-DAB03 because it was 100-Watts the most powerful micro hifi offering Digital Radio. The sound quality is good but not brilliant.

The display, however is damn annoying, when you turn the thing off a glaring neon blue light from the display remains on.

The other major problem is that the DAB reception is rubbish and unlistenable- one of the main reasons I bought it was to listen to digital radio. I have managed to improve the reception by fiddling with the DAB settings, I think by lowering the qaulity, but it still isn't up to scratch. I've done some research on the net and other people have reported the same problem with DAB reception.

Another thing is the 'bass boost' remains on as default, so each time you turn the thing on you have to turn the bass function off using the remote.
