Synopsis
Former stand-up comic Tim Allen got his big break as Tim the 'Tool Man' Taylor on this popular 1990s family sitcom. HOME IMPROVEMENT revolves around the career and family life of an average, but likeable handyman and car enthusiast who hosts a local home-maintenance show called 'Tool Time'. The sitcom's humour comes from Tim's squabbles with his wife Jill (Patricia Richardson), and his three sons: Mark, Randy, and Brad (Taran Noah Smith, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Zachary Ty Brian), and his mishaps on and off the set of 'Tool Time'. Other recurring characters include Tim's flannel-clad 'Tool Time' co-host Al (Richard Karn), elusive neighbour Wilson (Earl Hindman), and Lisa (Pamela Anderson), the sultry female sidekick on Tim's television show. Running for eight seasons from 1991 through 1999, HOME IMPROVEMENT was very popular among family audiences, who appreciated the show's moral core, as well as its amusing take on marriage and parenting. This release includes every episode from the show's highly successful second season.

Home Improvement Season 2
Home Improvement is one of the funniest sitcoms America ever produced yet will never be mentioned next to shows like M*A*S*H, Cheers, Friends and Frasier which I feel is shocking! Not because the forementioned big hitters are bad (I love em all - except M*A*S*H - never got it, personally!) but simply because in 8 seasons this show made me laugh so hard to the point of being out of breathe.
Tim Allen plays the lead role as Tim "The Toolman" Taylor. A man who's obsession with "More Power" and tools results in some of the most hilarious sitcom moments I've ever seen that you wonder why the guy hasn't just given up on souping up a vaccuum cleaner to the point it has people flying through the air!! and dropping a 3 tonne bar on his wifes car!
Along with The Toolman (who hosts "Tool Time" - his very own home improvement handymans tips show) is his witty supportive and sensitive wife Jill (played by Patricia Richardson) and his 3 sons Brad (Zach Bryan) Randy (Johnathan Taylor Thomas) and Mark (Tarah Smith). While trying to improve his machines build hot rods and host his own show he is very much also trying to maintain and improve his skills as a husband and father. In doing so he always can count on the advise of his wise yet reclusive nieghbour Wilson Wilson (you find out that his first name is Wilson in season 4 or 5 I think!) a schooled and worldy widower who always has a relative quote to help Tim in his problems, yet when Tim repeats the quote he'll always get it wrong! Wilson is played by Earl Hindman who I recently found out has passed on but will always be remembered in my mind as Wilson.
On his show Tim is assisted (and he'll always remind you of that) by the shy sensitive single Al Borland (we love Al!) played by Richard Karn. Al is my favourite character because he's so damned pathetic but you really begin to love him series to series as he opens up more and becomes like a member of the Taylor clan! Plus Tim always has a couple of good fat jokes about Als mother.
In the earlier series like season 1 and 2 you will also see Pam Anderson playing the part of Lisa who is Tool Times lil piece of eye candy and although is in quite a few episodes does not realy get a comprehensive and full time roll as Debbe Dunning who eventually takes Pams place (when she has "that video scandal" and hits real big!) as the stunning Hiedi!
To sum up, Home Improvement is one of the greats and should get the same recognition as a Friends or Cheers. Its family oriented funny in so many ways and as the years go by from season 1-8 Tim can always find new ways to screw up! So I give Home Improvement 4 hearty grunts!!!!
