As a member of Blue, Lee Ryan was a part of one of the biggest acts of his era. His solo debut single "Army of Lovers" is a good signpost towards the stripped-back sound of his first self-titled album. Eschewing easy US RnB references for more classic soul influences from Marvin Gaye, Maxwell and Luther Vandross, and mingling this with acoustic instrumentation has produced a strong, unique sound that you can instantly imagine yourself humming along to on MTV or the radio. Accessible pop values are used to great effect, his elegant but candid delivery takes the material straight to the heart.

CD Description
After the huge success that was Blue, youngest member Lee Ryan steps out on his own with this self-titled debut release. The album steers clear of the slick, modern US-style R&B that was evident on 2001's 'All Rise' and 2002's 'One Love'. Instead, Ryan opts for a classic soul sound - largely backedby acoustic instrumentation - and takes influence from artists such as Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross and Maxwell. The lead single, 'Army Of Lovers', is included.
Customer Reviews
Awesome and amazing
I never bothered with Blue, I thought "One Love" was ok, but this man has one of the most remarkable and beautiful voices I've ever heard. I can't believe the critics are not raving about this, I mean forget Coldplay, THIS is THE album of the year...I love Coldplay but this is absolutely unbelievable. The songs are nothing short of sensational, "Army Of Lovers" is catchy and soulful, "Jump" is more rock; but the song that really is off this planet is "In The Morning". Lee could become one of the world's leading artists if he got the attention. How often do you get a voice like that?
Magnificent.
What a suprise!!
I have never been a Blue fan, in fact I'd go as far to say I dislike them. My Mother (yes, I have a trendy mum) bought me this album as a pressie god only knows why. I put it on in the car during a long journey to pass the time...... WOW!!!! This man is SERIOUSLY talented, he has the most beautiful voice I have heard in a long time. His songs are extremely catchy, there is not one song I dislike (I didn't feel the urge to fast forward once). This album is now played at my house more often than not, even by my husband who is a Motley Crue fan!! Give it a listen, you'll have a nice surprise too. Well done Lee, you have a new fan.
Has a voice up their with the greats
This album doesn't have a bad song on it, especially Army of Lovers and Turn your Car around and I am really suprised the chart positions haven't been more favourable.....Lee should rally be the new George Michael....his songwriting talent demonstrated on the last few songs of the album are equal to anything George did in his early days and Lee has one of the greatest white soul voice's this country has produced - I hope his record company realises what a talent they have and not jusst drop him when he doesn't make the top ten.......
I want to hear his voice again and again.....it's like melted chocolate
Buy this album and show your support - you wont be disappointed.
