Product Description

The Norwegian duo Datarock's self titled debut album takes inspiration from two of the 70s most iconic dance-rock outfits, Devo and Talking Heads. At times sounding like a heavilyEuropean version of indie-cabaret band Man Man, at other times a poppier version of fellow Scandinavian electronic dance savants Junior Senior, the duo appear capable of spinning virtually any musical idea into gold. From glimmering dance-funk to excellent computer pop, the album's underlying humorous streak is seen throughout, particularly on tracks such as 'Bulldozer' and 'Computer Camp Love'.

Data Rocks5
Datarock have exploded over in Europe, being rated second only to the legendary Royksopp in many polls, yet they are still to be discovered above ground in the UK which perhaps is a good thing.

To say Datarock have a unique sound would be pretty accurate yet they take their influences from a wide range of music which shows through songs like fast paced, funky breakbeat "fa-fa-fa" and the powerful yet somehow chilled out "Princess".

The album itself is a rarity in new music, being consistantly excellent throughout. Although the album itself is only 40 minutes, the 11 tracks that they have squeezed in are perfectly timed, perfectly excecuted and have enough variety to appeal to almost every music lover from Punk to Jazz.

If you want something to put on at a party, Datarock is it. If you want something to play at home by yourself, Datarock is it. If you own a shop and you need something to play over your speakers that shies away from the norm of the Top Ten, Datarock is it.

All in all a fantastic performance from this relatively unknown band, long may they reign!

Set to explode...5
...Datarock are going to huge.

I bought the album after listening to their disco-rock track "Fa Fa Fa" on the Annie's DJ Kicks compilation (which is also brilliant by the way).

Datarock's album is, from start to finish, quite brilliant and whilst they remain relatively unknown in the UK it won't be long before they explode.

I predict big things.

Fresh and funky, this album put a big smile on my face.
Highly recommended!
