A different direction but still fantastic viewing...4
To be honest i watched this series not expecting much because of the reviews i have read on here, but now im glad i have seen it.

First off read the title, it is BEYOND the charming 3 series that have already been released and set in the beautiful River Cottage. This series takes a bigger lead forward as he attempts to upscale his project to a wider area.

It still has its charm of learning the hard way and going through new things in a very different life from what most of us have. Im annoyed that people have closed themselves off to this, simply because its not in River Cottage but i prefer the change instead of dragging out a good idea.

All in all if you are a fan of Hugh and not just River Cottage, you will realy enjoy this series as he attempts the seamingly impossible!

Enjoy!

Hugh and his pigs sniffing for bucks2
River Cottage series 1 and 2 are both outstanding and often inspirational. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall seems at ease and enjoying what he is doing. Whilst series three is still good, there is definitely a change in the air. Beyond River Cottage sees Hugh exploiting his business sense. It doesn't matter who you are, if money becomes your goal you disconnect from yourself. One day I hope he wakes up and notices that he doesn't feel too good and is surrounded by sycophants.

The clue is in the title.....5
This is BEYOND River Cottage - this is about Hugh's progression from "downsizer" , to in effect, organic farmer , with a diversity of commercial activities.
It doesn't make pretensions to be like the previous three series & should be seen as a seperate project & thus, judged in a completely different way.
Charting Hugh's mission to find & convert suitable premises, in order to set up a catering enterprise ,using the best fresh, organic produce when it is "in season", it is still a very interesting series, it's just different !!
Don't buy this expecting more "Tales from the Cottage" (as it were) - this is more the story of an organic farmer setting up & expanding his business, with plenty of top recipes & some familiar faces involved along the way.
As I say, different but still fascinating.
