Debut full-length album, following their self-titled EP, from Welsh metallers who won Best British Newcomer at the 2005Kerrang Awards. Sporting a hard-edged yet melodic sound reminiscent of fellow countrymen Funeral For A Friend as well as thrashier, more 80s-influenced acts like Trivium and Avenged Sevenfold, the album was produced by the legendary Andy Sneap (Arch Enemy, Cathedral, Earthtone 9) and includes the singles 'Four Words' and 'Suffocating Under Words Of Sorrow'.

Amazon.co.uk Review
The debut album from Bullet For My Valentine sees these Welsh rockers stake a claim to a plot of the UK metal soil already conquered by valleys countrymen Lostprophets and Funeral For A Friend. Whereas the `Prophets choose to dose their rock with an `80s new romantic sheen and F4AF temper it with an emotional hardcore edge, Bullet are all about the unreconstructed metal of Iron Maiden, early Metallica, and Judas Priest. Unquestionably, lead guitarist Michael `Padge' Padget has an ear for barbed riffs and the sort of dexterous fretboard work that befits an axe hero in the waiting. But the likes of "Her Voice Resides" and (deep breath) "Suffocating Under The Words Of Sorrow (What Can I Do)" find the band working with the tight union of potential Donnington headliners, and given this is their first album proper, that's impressive going. Although it's not immediately obvious, there's an emotional edge to the likes of "All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)" that will undoubtedly appeal to the emo fraternity weaned on Funeral's passionate, holler-along choruses.--Louis Pattison

Welsh boyos hit the nail on the head with 'The Poison'
Bullet for My Valentine's debut album, and what a debut, awesome riffs, powerful vocals and emmense Solo's is what a debut should have. Having heard only two songs from this album before I bought it, I thought it was about time broadened my musical horizons (from just listening to Metallica & Slipknot!). Beginning the album with a soft melodic intro, which features Apocalyptica, which leads prefectly into 'Her Voice Resides', A Thrash annihilation with screams but leads to smooth vocals by Matt Tuck and the boys.
'Cries in Vain' was originally taken from their self-titled five track UK EP and the US six track EP Hand of Blood and '4 Words (To Choke Upon)' was originally taken from the EP Hand of Blood.
Overall, this album has put Bullet For My Valentine on the map and has seen them as a support act for bands like Metallica, Gun 'n' Roses and Funeral For A Friend, So a must-buy for fans of early Metallica.
excellent album
I saw BFMV live when they supported Guns n' Roses and they were fantastic. I've only just got round to getting their CD and I think it's great. I wasn't too sure when I first listened to it because there is a lot of screaming!! I am a traditional metalhead and like the proper singing (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Anthrax etc) but I have to say the more I listen to BFMV the more I can see that sometimes a good scream is justified!! The guitar work is amazing, obviously a very talented band and I'm looking forward to hearing more from them in the future. Basically if you like metal you will like this CD - so buy it!
Not as good as the first album.
But it is still amazing. It fills you with power and emotion that makes you want to explode.
