Product Description

Hugely respected as a singer (with Happy Mondays and Inner City amongst many others) it was in 2004 that Rowetta entered ITV’s XFactor and millions of homes and hearts. Her enormous voice set her apart from the other 50,000 entrants and established her as Simon Cowell’s favourite. Her eponymous album is an impressive collection of songs including 3 self-penned originals and a surprisingly diverse collection of cover songs. A showstopping version of Sammy Davis Junior’s "Hello Detroit", sits along side fellow Mancunians Oasis’s "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" whilst "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" from the musical Dreamgirls compliments the disco of "The Greatest Performance Of My Life". Rowetta’s three original songs "Fly", "Pure, Faithful & True" and "Thunder and Lightning" display her passion for blues and northern soul.

All I Can Say Is WOW5
I bought this CD on spec and sure was surprised. This is one of the best CDs I have bought in a long time. I listen to it constantly. There is not a song on it I don't like which is really quite unusual. Several of my friends have heard it and say they can't get enough of it. It plays constantly. I pity the Canadians that don't get a chance to experience Rowetta. I highly recommend this disc. You won't be sorry.

Disappointing debut from a big talent2
Just received this album from "Amazon" and I'm incredibly frustrated!

Having waited almost a year for an album from the "X-Factor" favourite, I was pleased to find that some of the tracks are fully orchestrated but too many feature really weedy sounding synthesized arrangements and poor production values.

It's a big mistake to kick the album off with the clunky "Hello Detroit" but there are better songs to follow, especially the Motown influenced "Thunder and Lightening. "If ever I would leave you", which is one of my all-time favourite songs, is almost unlistenable due to the appalling "stop/start" arrangement but there's no getting away from the fact that Rowetta has a fantastic voice ... I just hope she's better served by her next album.

However ... I fear that if this one doesn't sell, this could end up being a "one-off". That would be a great shame as there's no doubting the lady's talent.

great diversity of songs5
I love this album, I got it last week and i have't stopped listening to it since
All the tracks are diverse and you can't get bored with the style of the album as it changes from big band to soul, from ballads to disco.
I'm telling you i'm not going is slightly similar to cher's believe and should have been released as a single.
the three songs rowetta wrote herself are stand out, but by far the best track of the three is fly, a ballad that wouldn't have sounded out of place on a celine dion album.
the cover of stop crying your heart out is fantastic and adds alot to the song. i love it!!!!
you should get this album just to listen to rowettas own songs. As far as i'm concerned she is the best vocalist i have heard in a long time, but now as far i'm concerned if her album doesnt become huge (which it should) rowetta could have a fantastic future as a song writer.
Do yourself a favour and buy this album, anyone who likes cher, diana ross, celine dion or any of the other divas will love this.
there is too much similar music in the charts these days, and there is any justice left in the music world this album will be number 1 !!!!
