useless
bought my poor old mum and dad this unit and they have had nothing but trouble changes channels by itself and turns itself on and off... its suprising that a big name like philips is so poor having said that im on my third panasonic and they are not much good either.. in fact most people i know have some kind of problems with these boxes are there any decent ones out there?
YET ANOTHER FAILED PRODUCT FROM PHILIPS.
On the face of it this set top box has the stylish looks and connectivity you could hope for. The on-screen menus are best described as Eccentric which is the Philips norm. It will programme itself without too much fuss and find all the channels you want more or less. But when the machine is re-booted it will loose most of the channels you have pre-set ?. The picture quality is great as you would expect from Digital but you need a strong arial to receive it. As sometimes there is a long time lag of up to 35 seconds which made me furious to say the least. And at times the picture will also break up and go blocky despite it having a good signal. However after less than six months use the box decided to stop working completley !!. Despite trying everything from pulling the cables out and the scarts nothing made this box work. So all I can say is steer clear of this product and all Philips electrical products.
Philips DTR 210/05 - dropping channels
Like others I thought some people had just been unlucky and I bought 2 of these boxes and my initial delight turned to frustration almost immediately. The first one switches itself off if you adjust the TV volume via the Set top box otherwise its fine, the second one loses all ITV channels when you turn it off so I have to do a search every time I want to use it ! I can't think why it doesn't like ITV! No upgrades available so I'm going to switch back to Panasonic where I never had any problems!
