Manufacturer's Description
Designed to provide a more enjoyable video calling experience, the QuickCam Pro 5000's exclusive video and audio technologies combine to ensure excellent VGA performance. Logitech's RightLight" technology ensures sharp video and still pictures even in dim light, while RightSound" technology provides clear, echo-free audio with or without a headset. The versatile monitor clip works on virtually any flat panel, CRT, or notebook display, and the activity light lets you know when you're "live." With the QuickCam Pro 5000, you'll enjoy a truly personal conversation online.
Express your unique personality by using Logitech Video Effects. Choose 3D animated avatars that imitate your facial expressions and head movements, or 2D face accessories that allow you to change your look with glasses, hats and more. They're fun and easy to use with programs such as MSN Messenger Video Conversation, Yahoo! Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, and others. With expanded video coverage and multi-person intelligent face-tracking, you can include friends and family without the distortion common in less-advanced cameras.

Works on a Mac with OS X
Hi just a short note for fellow Mac OS X users, just to say the Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000 Webcam works just like the iSight webcam, but a third of the cost and no extra software needed just plug and play,
Good webcam
I had read the reviews of this webcam and some other webcams too. I decided to go for it with a thought that it would be a good piece justifying the cost and I am glad that it stood up to my expectations. The installation was easy. As warned by a previous reviewer, I didn't install the software using the CD provided. I visited the logitech website and downloaded it from there and installed. The webcam was up and running on my HP laptop in minutes.
I mainly use it with Skype where it performs well. I tried using it with Yahoo! IM however, it appears to hang for few seconds intermittently. Didn't try with any other IM.
Overall, this should be a decent buy. Would suggest to read other reviews where people had been having problems and check if you have similar hardwares.
The "Home Delivery Network Limited" who were supposed to deliver this item simply put the box outside my house in driveway and left as none of us was at home. I obviously didn't get the package. Thanks to Amazon who prompty sent me another item for free via Royal Mail.
Worth it for what it is
Well, i didn't know whether to get a webcam at this price. I use webcams for making videos for my site, so didn't know if the spec would be up to any good, especially the built in microphone.
The video clarity on the product is not amazing, but it isdefinately good enough for what i and most people will need. I also was impressed by the aduio quality. The webcam picks up voice very well, even from a few meters away. The still shot mode is good as well, with not much blur and good focus and lighting.
STANDARD FEATURES = 9/10
Now onto the extra features. The software installed very qucikly on XP and Vista, and if you do as the instruction say (not plugging the webcam in until the software is installed) it will pick it up fine on both OS's (haven't tried Linux yet). The avatars are also pretty fun to mess around with video calling. It works good on Skype and was smooth even when talking to people in the US (Internet connection dependant though). There are also some good downloadable features you can customise the avatars with (the wizards best).
The advanced features include Righlight technology and Rightsound. Rihgtlight boosts the lighting when your in a low lit room, however i found if i was using artificial lighting, the camera constantly flickered. Right sound may be the reason why the audio is good, but i hadn't turned it off as it isa default feature.
EXTRA FEATURES = 9/10
To sum up then, i think that this camera is well worth the money, and you will most likely be pleased with it. It is packed wth extra features, making it fun and more usable. The sandard features are also good, providing clear video and crisp audio. Basically the fundamentals of a good webcam.
OVERALL = 9/10
