Editorial Reviews

CD Description
Though testimonies of faith and questions of morality are still at the heart of Kirk Franklin's message, 2005's HERO represents something of a musical departure for the gospel superstar. Recorded with a full orchestra--complete with lush strings and driving horns--HERO is one of Franklin's most musically ambitious outings.
Featuring guest appearances by Stevie Wonder ("Why"), Dorinda Clark-Cole ("Hero"), and Yolanda Adams ("Afterwhile"), not to mention a song that utilizes a Tears for Fears sample ( "Let It Go"), the album offers plenty of variety, and a few surprises, in addition to its large-scale arrangements. Franklin manages to integrate thesenew elements perfectly into the celebratory and healing music on which he's built his career.

Gospel veteran and Gospecentric recording artist 5
Gospel veteran and Gospecentric recording artist Kirk Franklin releases his long awaited studio album entitled `HERO'

The latest album `HERO' is very different form the last two he had previously released `The Rebirth Of Kirk Franklin' and `1NC'

The album starts of very strong with the lead single "Looking for love". This song is very infectious, funky and definitely a club banger. The album is jammed pack of songs like this such as "could've been" with J Moss and Tye Tribbett and "Better"

Kirk gets very personal on this album and talks about his life in "Let it go". The album has a very strong emotional feel which is nothing new for a Kirk Franklin recording but this time round it feels more heartfelt with songs like "Without You" and "Brokenhearted" just to name a few.

Kirk really doesn't spare anything on this one. The album is full of big names such as Yolanda Adams, Marvin L. Winans, Stevie Wonder and many more. Kirk also shows that he can still take it to church on tracks like "The appeal" and "Afterwhile"

A good thing about this album is that it has 20 tracks so you bound to find at least 5-10 tracks you'll like.

Overall this is a very good album but towards the end you'll find songs where you feel as though you have heard them already that is really the only downside to "Hero".

HERO5
I think the cd is one of the best works of Kirk Franklin. It sure has different styles of music and themes but all in all its one of the best of his cds. He has explored different themes and blended the sound of the songs really well.It will attract all ages and peoples alike. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Mix of new styles, still a blessing.4
This album is an enthusiastic and fresh follow-up to the previous album ('The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin'). It crosses a variety of more contemporary musical sounds, however the message has not been lost and continues to be a truly uplifting and praise-invoking experience that won't want to leave your CD player. Stand out tracks include 'Looking For You', 'Imagine Me', 'Hero' and 'Why' which features Stevie Wonder.
