Because Sudoku is a logic based game, it increases your aptitude, which is why its often recommended by teachers as a remarkable exercise in "logic reasoning". The aim is to fill the grid with numbers so that each column, row and region uses each number just once. For older people it may help stave off the onset of dementia and Alzheimer's Disease since it keeps the brain active. This electronic Sudoku is really easy to use thanks to its backlit touch-screen interface, and it includes a stylus in the package. There are two gameplay modes with four skill levels in each, providing a total of one million puzzles!

Manufacturer's Description
Sudoku is the fiendishly addictive number puzzle game that has taken the nation by storm. Licensed by the ever popular Carol Voderman, Character's Sudoku game is a sure fire winner. The game is based around a 9 x 9 grid, divided into smaller 3 x 3 sections. Some cells are pre- populated with the numbers 1 to 9. Your task is to fill the remaining empty cells, so that each row, column and region contains one instance of every number from 1 to 9.

Customer Reviews

Carol Vorderman should be ashamed1
I'm a fan of sudoku, and was given this as a present. After persisting with it at on a number of levels, I can only conclude that it's a shoddy product, and its designers don't understand sudoku at all. It's no fun and useless educationally.

Firstly, and most importantly, the puzzles aren't solvable using logic. You work through a puzzle, then get towards the end and find there are two (or frequently even more) possible solutions, so you have to guess which is correct. This happens all the time, and gets even worse on the harder levels, which have many, many solutions, such that the game becomes unusable. As Carol Vorderman knows very well, the point of sudoku is that there is a unique solution, and it should be findable using logic. Guesswork shouldn't come into it at all.

Secondly, it doesn't even have the basic tools necessary for sudoku, such as having temporary 'pencil marks' to help solve the more difficult puzzles.

On a more practical level, the screen is very difficult to read, however you hold it. This would be OK if the game was worth playing, but it isn't.

Save your money. Don't buy this.

Do not even consider it1
What's the point in a Sudoku game where you cannot even SEE the numbers? Even with the best combination of contrast settings and finding the right lighting angle you are likely to struggle and squint at the display. Clearly they wanted to save battery life, but in this case the 'compromise' totally undermines the product. If you bought it I hope you kept the receipt. You may need it for a refund.

Waste of money1
Terrible quality. You can't see on the screen what you're doing. I took it back to the shop to get my money back.
