Customer Reviews
Good but no WPA2
Simple to install, reliable, easy to configure BUT does NOT support WPA2 (supports WPA though). Even though there's an option on the 360 setup that says WPA2 (greyed out) this item does not support it whatever else you may hear. There's even a knowledgebase article on www.xbox.com apologizing for some incorrect manuals that claim that it does support it. Come on Microsoft, even my two year old Netgear WAP can do WPA2!
Second gripe is of course the price. Yes, it's very neat, matches the 360, configures easily and nicely clips onto the back of the machine, but is that really justification for TRIPLE the price of any other USB wireless adaptor? No, it's just a rip off. Sure put on some margin for the 360 badging, but times three? Get real.
Given the pain WiFi can be, the ease of setup gets this to score three stars. Would have been five, but high price loses one star and no WPA2 loses another.
Excellent Investment
True - £50-60 is a good deal of money to splash out on one little bit of kit. But boy, is it worth it! I can connect to Xbox LIVE wired or wirelessly, and the ONLY sure-fire way to connect without any wires is this little beauty.
The investment is definetly worth it. If you want/need wireless connection to LIVE, this is the way forward.
Job Done
I'm just going to reiterate what people here have been saying. I got this, plugged it in, it detected my network and I was online in a few minutes. DONE!
The reception is very good even between 2 walls and a ceiling. The instructions are rubbish but it's quite simple (go to network settings, EDit settings, Network Type (or something), input WEP key DONE!
The only real downside is the COST! However, this appears to be quality bit of kit & stops my wife from complaining about the wires.
