Completely Authentic
This contemporary 1969 film shows the story of one of the best Le Mans 24 hour races ever. Not only did the result hang in the balance to the last few yards of the race, Steve McQueen was there shooting footage for his Le Mans movie. Super in car footage from a GT40 and typically clipped-accented commentary makes for a genuine period piece. It captures well the intensity of a (literally) deadly serious 24hr race with the fairground atmosphere surrounding the business on the track. As a companion to the fiction of McQueen's fictional Le Mans movie this is a perfect factual foil.
