The ONLY Abs workout you will need for quick results5
Has 8 different sections: bootcamp, kickboxing and strength in both beginners and 'challenging' section, and 2 extra that are pilates-inspired using weights, a ball and a ring. (I haven't bothered with the last two sections).
Results: I have done the beginner versions of the three sections every other day for a two weeks and let me tell you - the definition and difference is noticeable. And I've never done Abs work before. Being female, I don't want a six-pack but there is potential for it to go that way so I intend to have a break and do some pilates abs work to keep it streamined. However, as a whole, this is a FANTASTIC workout programme - not too difficult but really gives results in a VERY short space of time. Plus it has encouraged me to lose some weight (I'm apple-shaped booooo)so teh definition really shows through. I'm highly impressed and won't be buying another Abs DVD. Cannot recommend enough if you can play Region 1 DVD's. Yes, presenter voice is annoying but couldn't care less. One caveat though - some of the lower ab work could prove quite tough on your lower back so skip or only do a couple of reps of those exercises until your abs are strong anough.

8 effective ab-crunching sessions for everyone!5
This DVD consists of six simple ab-crunching workouts and 2 bonus ones that are a bit different. The bonus sessions incorporate various things like pilates, dumbbells and a gym ball and are effective so don't rule them out! Each session only lasts about 8 minutes so they are perfect if your short on time or want something to add on at the end of a cardio or weight training session!

Let me start by getting the complaints out of the way: there is no programme or guidance given in terms of how often and how many of the sessions to do (not even on the box!). There's also no introduction offering tips on good form or anything so it might be off-putting for beginners.

Having said this, I suppose doing crunches is simple enough: just do what the instructor does (watch yourself in the mirror if it helps) and you'll be alright. The first three workouts are easier and the ones after that do get progressively harder. I started out doing one different session every day but around day 5, I started getting cramps so clearly I was doing too much, too soon. I settled for doing one ab session every other day which has been particularly effective for me. I always do one ab session (any of the six) + part A of the bonus workout (5 mins) which is basically a bunch of pilates stretches that engage the core - they are beneficial and feel very good after a tough crunching session.

The other bonus workouts are also very good - part b of the pilates bonus involves using a gym ball (5 mins)- you do the same pilates moves but with the added intensity of utilizing the ball. The second bonus session involves using a dumbbell and a pilates ring to make the session tougher.

EFFECTIVENESS:
I have been doing the ab routines for a few weeks now and I can't say my abs LOOK that much different but I can certainly feel the difference - my abs are stronger and feel harder. Bear in mind that the less fat you have around the ab area, the quicker you will be able to see tone and definition so doing cardio during the week and having a healthy diet is really important.

I would recommend starting out with one session every other day (or every two days) and progress from there. Once your abs are stronger, you can aim for a session every day. In my opinion this DVD is a really good investment because when you become really advanced you can just progress it by combining sessions (e.g. do one basic and one advanced session each day).

SUMMARY
A good investment DVD suitable for all levels and the workouts can be tailored to your requirements. One final thing is that the DVD loads really quickly (no annoying trailers or adverts promoting other products so it's perfect if you've just completed another workout (e.g. aerobics, strength training, whatever takes your fancy) and you want to add an ab session at the end, you just stick the DVD in and it plays pretty much instantly! A brilliant buy!
