kelly holmes
Just what you would expect from an olympic athelete; thorough, well presented,no gimics, good old fashioned exercise from someone who really is fit and healthy and knows what she's talking about.
Don't expect repetitve dance music or boaring celebrities talking rubbish and cashing in on their fame. What you get instead is a woman who really knows what she's talking about giving advice about starting a fitness routine including what to wear, how to train and what equipment to use before launching into a challenging circuuit traing routine
Waste of money!!!
I brought this fitness video thinking that one by an olympic runner would meant lots of physical exerice workouts but instead its mainly stretches and the workouts are very short and limited, the exercises are boring and certainty won't help you lose weight unless you do them for hours on end! Dont by this dvd unless you want to waste your money.
informative but lacks the fun factor
Very straightforward exercise video, with clear, relevant, and no-nonsense content. Gives a complete and objective view of fitness (nutrition, proper gear, safety during exercise). No fluff involved. Decent and respectable, worthy of a spot on the Discovery Channel (and I love this channel). But this strength is also the video's weakness. I found myself watching instead of participating in the exercises. Of course we need to know what muscle groups we are working on, what shoes to wear, etc, but exercise is stressful and painful enough - can't we at least have fun doing it? The video is too quiet (what soundtrack?). Kelly is a great athlete, but she has a long way to go as a coach and presenter. She seems understandably self-conscious and uncomfortable, and she doesn't connect with the viewer. Overall, the video didn't sustain my attention. Sudden, stilted bursts of "don't forget to breath!" doesn't do well to motivate fitness novices like me to exercise. I got this video along with Billy Blanks' Taebo - Ultimate Collection. While Kelly taught me how to prepare to exercise, I ended up doing taebo; it's just as painful, but loads more fun. With taebo, I didn't notice the time fly. Billy Blanks' presentation style may be too loud, even cheesy for Brits (his blond, curly-haired assistant who does the counting can be overly enthusiastic), but his style connects him with the viewer. His loud approach brings him to your living room and encourages you to participate; you can't help but exercise, which is the endpoint after all. Buy Kelly Holmes' video if you're serious about sports. Otherwise, borrow it from your library, take note of Kelly's great fitness tips, then find another exercise video that doesn't take itself so seriously.
